  1. 1. On Gas Contaminants, and Bipolar Plates in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

    Author : Yasna Acevedo Gomez; Carina Lagergren; Göran Lindbergh; Rakel Wreland Lindström; Qinfeng Li; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PEM fuel cell; contaminants; ammonia; nitrogen dioxide; degradation; recovery; bipolar plates; electroplating; Ni-Mo; Ni-Mo-P; internal contact resistance; PEM bränslecell; föroreningar; ammoniak; kvävedioxid; degradering; återhämtning; bipolära plattor; elektroplätering; Ni-Mo; Ni-Mo-P; interna kontaktmotståndet; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell is an electrochemical device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy through two electrocatalytic reactions. The most common catalyst used is platinum on carbon (Pt/C), which has shown the best performance in the fuel cell until now. READ MORE

  2. 2. Study of particle-current-electrocrystallization interactions in electroplating of Ni/SiC coatings

    Author : Santiago Pinate; Caterina Zanella; Peter Leisner; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Composite coatings; Nanoparticles; Electrocrystallisation; Microstructure; Surface treatment; Pulse plating; Ultrasound agitation; Kompositbeläggningar; Nanopartiklar; Elektrokristallisering; Mikrostruktur; Ytbehandling; Pulsplätering; Ultraljudsomrörning;

    Abstract : Composite coatings have great potential due to the possibility to combine properties of two different materials in one coating. This way, new surface properties can be tailored and applied to any material's surface. READ MORE

  3. 3. Extending Microsystems to Very High Temperatures and Chemically Harsh Environments

    Author : Zahra Khaji; Lena Klintberg; Klas Hjort; Greger Thornell; Frank Niklaus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : HTCC; MEMS; MST; Microcombustor; Microthruster; Single-use valve; Wireless pressure sensor; flow sensor; in-situ electroplating; Monopropellant; Platinum; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : Aiming at applications in space exploration as well as for monitoring natural hazards, this thesis focuses on understanding and overcoming the challenges of extending the applicability of microsystems to temperatures above 600°C as well as chemically harsh environments. Alumina and zirconia high-temperature co-fired ceramics (HTCC) with platinum as the conductor material, have in this thesis, been used to manufacture a wide range of high-temperature tolerant miniaturized sensors and actuators, including pressure and flow sensors, valves, a combustor, and liquid monopropellant microthrusters. 4. 4. Nanofabrication of Zone Plate Optics for Compact Soft X-Ray Microscopy

    Author : Anders Holmberg; Hans Hertz; Christian David; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This Thesis describes the development of the KTH/Stockholm nanofabrication process for diffractive soft x-ray optics. The effort is motivated by the need for and requirement of specially designed diffractive optics and test objects for compact x-ray microscopy as well as optics for other applications such as phase imaging. 5. 5. Nanofabrication of Diffractive Soft X-ray Optics

    Author : Magnus Lindblom; Hans M. Hertz; Erik H. Anderson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanofabrication; Zone plate; x-ray; diffractive x-ray optics; x-ray microscopy; Optics; Optik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes the present status of the nanofabrication of diffractive optics, i.e. zone plates, and test objects for soft x-ray microscopy at KTH. The emphasis is on new and improved fabrication processes for nickel and germanium zone plates. READ MORE
