1. Selected Topics in Continuum Percolation : Phase Transitions, Cover Times and Random Fractals
Abstract : This thesis consists of an introduction and three research papers. The subject is probability theory and in particular concerns the topics of percolation, cover times and random fractals.Paper I deals with the Poisson Boolean model in locally compact Polish metric spaces. READ MORE

2. On Fault Detection, Diagnosis and Monitoring for Induction Motors
Abstract : In this thesis, multiple methods and different approaches have been established and evaluated successfully, in order to detect and diagnose the faults of induction motors (IMs). The aim of this thesis is to present novel fault detection and isolation methods for the case of induction machines that would have the merit to be implemented online and being characterized by specific novel capabilities, when compared with the existing techniques. 3. Optimisation in strategies in diffusion tensor MR imaging
Abstract : With diffusion MR imaging, the Brownian motion (or self-diffusion) of water molecules is measured. In the corresponding ADC (Apparent Diffusion Coefficient) image, each image element (voxel) represents the average diffusion. In MRI, the diffusion is measured with diffusion gradients along certain directions in space. READ MORE

4. Minimum Enclosing Balls and Ellipsoids in General Dimensions
Abstract : In this doctoral thesis, we study the problem of computing the ball of smallest radius enclosing a given set of points in any number of dimensions. Variations of this problem arise in several branches of computer science, such as computer graphics, artificial intelligence, and operations research. READ MORE

5. Study on the Earth’s Surface Mass Variations using Satellite Gravimetry Observations
Abstract : Our complex planet is continuously undergoing temporal and spatial changes. In this context, ongoing processes in the Earth subsystems (geosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere) cause changes in the gravity field of the Earth across a wide range of temporal and spatial scales.
