1. Chemical emissions from building structures : emission sources and their impact on indoor air
Abstract : Chemical compounds in indoor air can adversely affect our comfort and health. However, in most cases there is only a limited amount of information available that can be used to assess their health risk. Instead the precautionary principle is often applied, i.e. READ MORE

2. Traffic Emissions of Aerosols
Abstract : Non-exhaust traffic emissions are unregulated, yet the mass emission of non-exhaust particles may be larger than exhaust emissions. In addition, their emission factors (EF) are more uncertain than exhaust emissions. This thesis presents aerosol flux measurements in Stockholm using the eddy covariance method. READ MORE

3. Reducing Radon Gas Emissions in Concrete
Abstract : Several compulsory regulations and recommendations regarding ionising radiation for building products have been introduced in recent years. Furthermore, industry-affiliated aggregate and concrete companies strive to implement environmental goals that should be fulfilled regarding building materials. READ MORE

4. Emissions of volatile organic compounds from wood
Abstract : The central aim of this thesis is to support the efforts to counteract certain environmental problems caused by emissions of volatile organic compounds. The purpose of this work was (1) to develop a method to establish the amount of emitted substances from dryers, (2) to determine the effect of drying medium temperature and end moisture content of the processed material on emissions of monoterpenes and other hydrocarbons, (3) to examine the emissions of monoterpenes during production of pellets, and (4) to examine the natural emissions from forests with an eye to implications for modelling. 5. Reducing Diesel Engine Emissions - An Experimental Investigation
Abstract : In the recent past, the Diesel engine has been improved considerably in the areas ofperformance, fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions. In Europe, these improvements haveresulted in a strong increase in the sales of passenger cars equipped with a Diesel engine. READ MORE
