21. P-glycoprotein and chiral antidepressant drugs : Pharmacokinetic, pharmacogenetic and toxicological aspects
Abstract : The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is formed by the capillary endothelial cells, joined together by tight junctions, with transporter proteins. BBB acts to regulate the brain concentrations of substances including many drugs. READ MORE

22. Capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry applied to structural proteomics and small molecule analysis
Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometric (CE–MS) detection offers a separation method without equal in terms of flexibility, utility, and cost efficiency. Here we demonstrate precisely this through the application of several laboratory-built CE–MS instruments for the separation of brain metabolites in non-primates, enantioselective separations of synthetic anesthetic metabolites in fractionated pony urine, application in structural proteomics workflows, and identification of exogenous alkaloid biotransformationproducts in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). 23. Genetic influence on enantiomeric drug disposition : Focus on venlafaxine and citalopram
Abstract : A molecule that is not identical to its mirror image is said to be chiral. A racemic mixture, or a racemate, is one that has equal amounts of S- and R-enantiomers of a chiral molecule. Two examples of frequently prescribed racemic drugs are the antidepressants venlafaxine (VEN) and citalopram (CIT). READ MORE

24. Enantioselective drug metabolism catalysed by the polymorphic CYP2D6 and CYP2C19 : a methodological investigation focused on mianserin, mephenytoin and omeprazole
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to develop enantioselective analytical methods and apply them to studies of oxidative metabolism of chiral drugs catalysed by the polymorphic cytochrome P450 CYP2D6 and CYP2C 19 enzymes. The work has been focused on mianserin, mephenytoin and omeprazole. READ MORE

25. Exploring Selectivity and Hysteresis : Kinetic Studies on a Potato Epoxide Hydrolase
Abstract : The kinetic mechanism of an α/β hydrolase fold epoxide hydrolase from potato, StEH1, has been studied with the aims of explaining the underlying causes for enantio- and regioselectivity, both being important for product purity. Further effort has been laid upon understanding the causes of a hysteretic behavior discovered in the measurements leading to Paper I. READ MORE
