  1. 1. Thermal Radiation from Co-evaporated Cu(In,Ga)Se2 : End point detection and process control

    Author : Jens Schöldström; Marika Edoff; Nicolas Barreau; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CIGS; Cu InGa Se2; thin film; solar cells; end point detection; process control; optical constants; CuxSe; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : The use of solar cells for energy production has indeed a bright future. Reduction of cost for fabrication along with increased efficiency are key features for a market boom, both achieved as a result of increased knowledge of the technology. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sensitivity, Noise and Detection of Enzyme Inhibition in Progress Curves

    Author : Omar Gutierrez Arenas; Helena Danielson; Athel Cornish-Bowden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Progress curves; limit of detection; Z -factor; primary screening; enzyme inhibition; error structure; sensitivity analysis; High-throughput screning; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Starting with the development of an enzymatic assay, where an enzyme in solution hydrolysed a solid-phase bound peptide, a model for the kinetics of enzyme action was introduced. This model allowed the estimation of kinetic parameters and enzyme activity for a system that has the peculiarity of not being saturable with the substrate, but with the enzyme. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the estimation of ligand binding affinities

    Author : Samuel Genheden; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; binding affinities protein-ligand complexes; host-guest complexes; MM GBSA; MM PBSA; LIE; PDLD s-LRA; alchemical methods; sampling; solvation; drug design;

    Abstract : A method to accurately estimate the binding affinity of a small molecule to a receptor would be indispensable in numerous fields. For instance, most drugs exert their action by binding to a macromolecule target. Thus, a lot of time and resources could be saved in drug design by predicting affinities by computer programs. 4. 4. Robotic Work-Space Sensing and Control

    Author : Magnus Linderoth; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; assembly; force control; on-line trajectory generation; filter initialization; visual tracking; Robotics; computer vision; cooperating robots;

    Abstract : Industrial robots are traditionally programmed using only the internal joint position sensors, in a sense leaving the robot blind and numb. Using external sensors, such as cameras and force sensors, allows the robot to detect the existence and position of objects in an unstructured environment, and to handle contact situations not possible using only position control. 5. 5. On the validity of the results from the Swedish National Total Hip Arthroplasty register

    Author : Peter Söderman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Swedish National Total Hip Arthroplasty Register; validation; hip replacement; outcome;

    Abstract : The Swedish National Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) Register contains more than 200 000 primary and secondary hip replacements. The failure end-point definition is revision. The aim of this thesis was to validate the results presented by the register and to study the outcome of hip replacement surgery in Sweden. READ MORE
