  1. 21. Growth factor regulation of the urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) system in human endometrium, and the significance of uPA receptor activation in endometrial angiogenesis

    Author : Tove Sandberg; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics; endothelial cell migration; angiogenesis; uPA:PAI-1 complex; uPAR; TGF-beta; PAI-1; EGF; uPA; Growth factor; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to examine the role of growth factors and the urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) system in human endometrial angiogenesis. 3. 23. Regulation and function of the human fallopian tube

    Author : Kjell Wånggren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Fallopian tube; endometrium; embryo; transport; prostaglandin; receptors; progesterone; mifepristone; LIF; LIFR; gp130;

    Abstract : The Fallopian tube is essential for human reproduction. Transport of the spermatozoa, the egg, and later the pre-embryo is believed to be aided by muscular contractions in the wall of the Fallopian tube and cilia in the mucosa. READ MORE

  4. 24. Invasion promoting factors in endometriotic and endometrial tissue

    Keywords : Endometriosis; endometrium; PF; tPA; uPA; uPAR; PAI-1; PAI-2; IL-1beta; IL-6; TNFalpha.;

    Abstract : Endometriosis is a common gynaecologic disorder, affecting women of fertile age with pelvic pain and infertility, and is characterized by the presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterine cavity. Retrograde shed endometrial fragments are presumed to adhere to pelvic structures and grow invasively, thereby creating endometriotic tissue. READ MORE

  5. 25. Factors of importance for the outcome of IVF-treatment in women with tubal infertility

    Author : György Csemiczky; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : In vitro fertilization; grade of tubal damage; extent of reconsructive surgery; E2; P4; prognostic factors; ovarian failure; endometrium; implantation.;

    Abstract : In vitro fertilization embryo transfer (IVF-ET) is a well-established infertility treatment caused by damage of the fallopian tube, which is one of the largest diagnostic categories in most IVF programs. This study evaluates factors of importance for the outcome of IVF-treatment: age, tubal damage grade, extent of reconstructive surgery, endocrine ovarian function and endometrial development.
