  1. 1. Optical Efficiency of Low-Concentrating Solar Energy Systems with Parabolic Reflectors

    Author : Maria Brogren; Arne Roos; Björn Karlsson; Andreas Häberle; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; Photovoltaic cells; Photovoltaic-thermal systems; Parabolic reflectors; Optical properties; Reflector materials; Optical efficiency; Accelerated ageing; Outdoor ageing; Building-integrated photovoltaics; Teknisk fysik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : Solar electricity is a promising energy technology for the future, and by using reflectors for concentrating solar radiation onto photovoltaic cells, the cost per produced kWh can be significantly reduced. The optical efficiency of a concentrating system determines the fraction of the incident energy that is transferred to the cells and depends on the optical properties of the system components. 2. 2. Primary energy use of residential buildings : implications of materials, modelling and design approaches

    Author : Uniben Yao Ayikoe Tettey; Leif Gustavsson; Ambrose Dodoo; Jan-Olof Dalenbäck; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; primary energy use; material production; simulation; input parameters; design strategies; climate change; overheating; residential buildings; Technology byts ev till Engineering ; Teknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Buildings can play an essential role in the transition to a sustainable society. Different strategies, including improved energy efficiency in buildings, substitution of carbon intensive materials and fuels, efficient energy supply among others can be employed for this purpose. 3. 3. Energy renovation of multi-family buildings in Sweden : An evaluation of life cycle costs, indoor environment and primary energy use, and a comparison with constructing a new building

    Author : Lina La Fleur; Bahram Moshfegh; Patrik Rohdin; Andreas Koch; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Residential buildings account for 27% of the final energy use in the European Union. In cold climates, space heating represents the largest proportion of the energy demand in residential buildings. By implementing energy efficiency measures (EEMs) in existing buildings, energy use can be significantly reduced. READ MORE

  4. 4. Environmental Impact of Concrete Structures - with Focus on Durability and Resource Efficiency

    Author : Nadia Al-Ayish; Folke Björk; Kjartan Gudmundsson; Katarina Malaga; Otto During; Katja Fridh; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Life cycle assessment; environmental impact; concrete structures; resource efficiency; durability; supplementary cementitious materials; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Concrete is essential for the construction industry with characteristic properties that make it irreplaceable in some aspects. However, due to the large volumes consumed and the energy intense cement clinker production it also has a notable climate impact. READ MORE

  5. 5. Single and Double Skin Glazed Office Buildings - Analyses of Energy Use and Indoor Climate

    Author : Harris Poirazis; Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal environment; indoor climate; energy use; building performance; building simulations; double skin façades; Glazed office buildings; single skin façades; thermal comfort;

    Abstract : The energy efficiency and thermal performance of highly glazed office buildings are often questioned. However, nowadays glazed buildings are increasingly being built around the world, mainly due to an architectural trend, followed by the preference of companies to a distinctive image that a glazed office building can provide.
