  1. 11. Life cycle assessment and life cycle cost analysis of a single-family house

    Author : Bojana Petrovic; Ola Eriksson; Marita Wallhagen; Xingxing Zhang; Åsa Wahlström; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Building; carbon-dioxide equivalent emissions; global warming potential; primary energy use; life cycle assessment; life cycle cost; Byggnad; koldioxidekvivalenta utsläpp; global uppvärmningspotential; pri-märenergianvändning; livscykelbedömning; livscykelkostnad; Hållbar stadsutveckling; Sustainable Urban Development;

    Abstract : The building industry is responsible for 35% of final energy use and 38% of CO2 emissions at a global level. The European Union aims to reduce CO2 emissions in the building industry by up to 90% by the year 2050. Therefore, it is important to consider the environmental impacts buildings have. READ MORE

  2. 12. Integration of Membrane Distillation and Solar Thermal Systems for Coproduction of Purified Water and Heat

    Author : Tirumala Uday Kumar Nutakki; Andrew R. Martin; Guillermo Zaragoza; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solar Membrane Distillation; polygeneration; TRNSYS; Integrated systems; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : In the Middle East and North Africa region fresh water resources are very scarce and theexisting sources are depleting rapidly. Desalination is the method to fulfill increasing waterdemand, and people depend mostly upon bottled water for drinking purposes. READ MORE

  3. 13. Systems Analysis of Chemicals Production via Integrated Entrained Flow Biomass Gasification : Quantification and improvement of techno-economic performance

    Author : Jim Andersson; Eric D. Larson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Lignocellulosic biomass gasification is a promising production pathway for green chemicals, which can support the development towards a more sustainable society where fossil fuels are replaced. To be able to compete with fossil fuels, a highly efficient production of biomassbased products is required in order to maximize overall process economics and to minimizenegative environmental impact. 4. 14. Bio-coal for the sustainable industry : A scientific approach to optimizing production, storage, and usages

    Author : Aekjuthon Phounglamcheik; Kentaro Umeki; Markus Broström; Capucine Dupont; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Bio-coal produced from biomass is a promising material to replace fossil coal in order to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emission from the industrial sector. Bio-coal with quality comparable to that of fossil coal can be produced by high-temperature pyrolysis at ≥500 ºC, but the production efficiency is relatively low due to low bio-coal yield at high pyrolysis temperatures. 5. 15. Mechanisms of Deposit formation in the Grate-kiln Process

    Author : Hamid Sefidari; Marcus Öhman; Dan Boström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Fly ash particles from the combustion of coal together with disintegrated particles arising from iron-ore pellets result in accumulation of deposits on the refractory linings of the grate-kiln induration machine during the iron-ore pelletizing process. Deposit formation gives rise to decreased production efficiency, unscheduled shutdowns, high cleaning costs, and equipment failures. READ MORE
