  1. 1. Increasing Energy Efficiency in Electric Trains Operation : Driver Advisory Systems and Energy Storage

    Author : Nima Ghaviha; Erik Dahlquist; Markus Bohlin; Fredrik Wallin; Rob M.P. Goverde; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Driver Advisory System; Catenary-free Operation; Electric Train; Electric Multiple Unit; Battery; Energy Efficiency; Energy Storage; Speed Profile Optimization; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Electric traction is the most efficient traction system in the railway transportation. However, due to the expensive infrastructure and high power demand from the grid, the share of electric trains in the railway transportation is still lower than other trains. READ MORE

  2. 2. Computer Simulations of Heterogenous Biomembranes

    Author : Joakim P. M. Jämbeck; Alexander P. Lyubartsev; D. Peter Tieleman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular simulation; force field development; biological membranes; free energy calculations; rational drug design; solute-membrane interactions; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Abstract : Molecular modeling has come a long way during the past decades and in the current thesis modeling of biological membranes is the focus. The main method of choice has been classical Molecular Dynamics simulations and for this technique a model Hamiltonian, or force field (FF), has been developed for lipids to be used for biological membranes. 3. 3. SECURITY OF SUPPLY DURING THE ENERGY TRANSITION:THE ROLE OF CAPACITY MECHANISMS

    Author : Pradyumna Bhagwat; Mehrdad Ghandhari Alavijh; Margot P. C. Weijnen; Laurens J. De Vries; Reinier van der Veen; KTH; []

    Abstract : The push for clean energy has caused a rapid growth of renewables in the electricity supply mix of the EU. Although one would assume that the impact of these technologies is entirely positive, recent research and experience indicate that there is reason for concern namely regarding the security of supply. Abstract : In this research, several improvements to the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) were analysed. The EU ETS is a market for emission allowances and the European Union's main instrument for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (of which CO2 is the main component). READ MORE

  5. 5. Measurements of the Standard Model Higgs boson cross sections in the WW* decay mode with the ATLAS experiment

    Author : P. Edvin Sidebo; Jonas Strandberg; Markus Klute; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; p p: colliding beams; Higgs particle: hadroproduction; Higgs particle: decay; cross section: measured; High energy physics: experimental; Timing detectors; p p: scattering; ATLAS; Cern LHC Coll; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis summarises measurements of the Standard Model Higgs boson production cross sections based on proton–proton collision data at √s = 13 TeV produced by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. By analysing data collected during 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 fb−1, the Higgs boson gluon–gluon fusion and vector boson fusion production cross sections are measured in the WW* decay mode.
