  1. 1. Low-energy buildings energy use, indoor climate and market diffusion

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Johannes Persson; KTH.; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building energy simulations; energy efficiency gap; energy use; indoor climate; low-energy buildings;

    Abstract : Low-energy buildings have, in recent years, gained attention and moved towards a large-scale introduction in the residential sector. During this process, national and international criteria for energy use in buildings have become stricter and the European Union has through the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive imposed on member states to adapt their building regulations for ‘Nearly Zero Energy Buildings’, which by 2021 should be standard for new buildings. Abstract : On March 13th, 2006, the Division of Electricity at Uppsala University deployed its first wave energy converter, L1, in the ocean southwest of Lysekil. L1 consisted of a buoy at the surface, connected through a line to a linear generator on the seabed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Improved Self-Consumption of Photovoltaic Electricity in Buildings Storage, Curtailment and Grid Simulations

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Institutionen för teknikvetenskaper

    Author : Rasmus Luthander; Uppsala universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Photovoltaics; Solar energy; Self-consumption; Grid integration; Distributed generation; Energy storage; Curtailment; Power system; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : The global market for photovoltaics (PV) has increased rapidly: during 2014, 44 times more was installed than in 2004, partly due to a price reduction of 60-70% during the same time period. Economic support schemes that were needed to make PV competitive on the electricity market have gradually decreased and self-consumption of PV electricity is becoming more interesting internationally from an economic perspective. 4. 4. Winter Road Maintenance using Renewable Thermal Energy

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Josef Johnsson; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydronic pavements; borehole thermal energy storage; winter road maintenance; BRIDGESIM; numerical simulations; BTES; renewable energy;

    Abstract : Winter road maintenance is costly but it is inevitable since it is necessary to keep roads accessible and safe during winter. Current winter road maintenance methods use annually 600 000 tons of salt, in the Nordic countries. The salt ends up in the environment along the roads and results in environmental challenges.
