  1. 11. Evaluation of Modular Thermally Driven Heat Pump Systems

    Author : Corey Blackman; Eva Thorin; Chris Bales; Christian Schweigler; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sorption heat pump; sorption module; thermochemical energy storage; artificial neural network; built environment; solar energy; gas-driven heat pump; solar cooling; heating and cooling; renewable energy; energy efficiency; experimental; simulation; analytical; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik; Reesbe företagsforskarskola;

    Abstract : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of primary energy use within the European Union, therefore reductions in the energy use intensity of this sector are critical in decreasing total energy usage. Given that the majority of energy used within the built environment is for space conditioning and domestic hot water preparation, prudence would suggest that decreasing primary energy used for these end purposes would have the biggest overall environmental impact. 2. 12. Transition pathways for future district heating and cooling systems with thermal energy storage

    Author : Yichi Zhang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; transition roadmap; bidirectional system; uncertainty analysis; Thermal energy storage; district heating and cooling;

    Abstract : Buildings’ heating and cooling account for more than 20% of the final energy use within the European countries and are dominated by non-renewable resources. Future district energy systems should enable efficient, fossil-free, and economical energy supply at operating temperatures that end users can directly utilize. READ MORE

  3. 13. New methods and applications to explore the dynamics of least-cost technologies in geospatial electrification modelling

    Author : Andreas Sahlberg; Francesco Fuso Nerini; William Usher; Mark Howells; James Morrissey; KTH; []

    Abstract : Access to modern energy services is a pre-requisite for sustainable development. As such, Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. However, as of 2021, 675 million people lack access to electricity, and 2.3 billion people lack access to clean cooking fuels. READ MORE

    Abstract :  Biomethane production from renewable residues with anaerobic digestion gains increasing attention as a crucial alternative to petroleum fuels. It has been vigorously developed, but the large amounts of subsidy from the government indicate that the process efficiency needs to be further improved. READ MORE
