  1. 1. Energy Policy Instruments Perspectives on their Choice, Combination and Evaluation

    Author : Kerstin Åstrand; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy systems; policy instrument choice; socio-technical systems; policy instrument combination; Energiforskning; Energy research; Samhällsvetenskaper; Social sciences; Sweden.; evaluation; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; wind energy policy; green certificate trading scheme; market creation; wind power; Public policy instruments; wind turbine development; kontroll av utsläpp; renewable energy; energy policy;

    Abstract : Abstract The thesis aims at providing a better understanding of public policy instruments used in policy-making within the energy sector, particularly regarding their role in the change towards an increased use of renewable energy sources for generation of electricity. The research was guided by an underlying assumption that a markedly higher proportion of the energy generated from renewable sources can be considerably enhanced by use of policy instruments that support the development and the market creation of new, renewable energy technologies. 2. 2. Analysis and Forecasting of Utility-Scale Hybrid Wind and PV Power Parks

    Author : Oskar Lindberg; David Lingfors; Joakim Munkhammar; Johan Arnqvist; Jakub Jurasz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; co-located; probabilistic; forecasting; trading; wind; solar; variability; Engineering Science with specialization in Civil Engineering and Built Environment; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot byggteknik och byggd miljö;

    Abstract : The increasing share of wind and photovoltaic (PV) power in the electricity generation mix pose challenges in power system management due to their non-dispatchable and intermittent nature. Co-locating wind and PV parks, forming utility-scale hybrid power parks (HPPs), means that the sources can share grid connection, land, permitting procedures as well as operation and maintenance work. Abstract : This thesis investigates the role of different short-term electricity market design aspects that can facilitate better coordination of resources within the power system. The work also emphasizes on better cross-border integration of the short-term markets to improve the market liquidity, competition, social welfare, and flexibility in the system, which is essential for facilitating the integration of renewable sources. 4. 4. Cost-efficient integration of variable renewable electricity - Variation management and strategic localisation of new demand

    Author : Viktor Walter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flexibility measures; Energy system modelling; smart energy systems; variation management strategies; variable renewable electricity;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to improve our understanding of how wind power and solar photovoltaics (PV) can be integrated into the European electricity system in a cost-efficient manner. For this, a techno-economic, cost-minimising model of the electricity system is refined for a number of case studies. READ MORE
