  1. 1. Model-Based Diesel Engine Management System Optimization - A Strategy for Transient Engine Operation

    Author : Markus Grahn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engine management system; Modeling; Engine control; Diesel engine; Fuel Consumption; Optimization; Emissions; Calibration; Simulation;

    Abstract : To meet increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system. 3. 3. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry

    Author : Adina Gogan; Värmeöverföring; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plasmas; Gaser; Gases; fluid dynamics; aktuariematematik; programmering; operationsanalys; Statistik; actuarial mathematics; programming; operations research; Statistics; detailed kinetics; emissions; engine knock; autoignition; modeling; spark ignition engine; diesel engine; fluiddynamik; plasma; Technological sciences; Teknik; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; stochastic reactor model;

    Abstract : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 4. 4. Modeling, Control and Optimization of theTransient Torque Response in DownsizedTurbocharged Spark Ignited Engines

    Author : Oscar Flärdh; Håkan Hjalmarsson; Jonas Mårtensson; Per Tunestål; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engine modeling; Engine control; Transient torque response; Downsizing; Transient optimization;

    Abstract : Increasing demands for lower carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumption drive technological developments for car manufacturers. One trend that has shown success for reducing fuel consumption in spark ignited engines is downsizing, where the engine size is reduced to save fuel and a turbocharger is added to maintain the power output. 5. 5. On the Use of Laser-Induced Incandescence for Soot Diagnostics: From Theoretical Aspects to Applications in Engines

    Author : Henrik Bladh; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Laser-Induced Incandescence; Laser Diagnostics; LII; Soot; Model; Engine; Particulates; Soot volume fraction; Combustion; Physics; Fysik; quantum mechanics; classical mechanics; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; gravitation; relativity; kvantmekanik; klassisk mekanik; termodynamik; statistisk fysik; relativitet; Gases; Gaser; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Teknik; Laserteknik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; fluiddynamik; plasma; Technological sciences; Laser technology;

    Abstract : The laser-induced incandescence technique (LII) is a laser-based diagnostic technique for measurements of soot volume fraction and particle size. The technique relies on detection of incandescent light from soot particles heated to around 4000 K using nanosecond laser pulses. READ MORE
