  1. 1. Flow over rough surfaces, and conjugate heat transfer, in engineering applications

    Author : Bercelay Niebles Atencio; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Naphthalene Sublimation Tecnhique; Antifouling paint; convective heat transfer; Roughness Function; correlation; CFD; RANS; stator channel; electric generator; Impinging Jet; Skin-Friction Drag; Rotating Disk; Ship Hull;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on two important topics in the field of fluid mechanics and heat transfer that were treated separately. On the one hand, the flow over rough surfaces, which is not yet completely understood, despite of the fact that it has an important implication in many engineering applications, especially in the naval industry for ships and boats because the friction drag caused by fouling, antifouling coatings and roughness in general impacts the fuel consumption and toxic emissions to the atmosphere. 2. 2. Embedded Measurement Systems

    Author : Lars Bengtsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microcontroller; measurement system; direct sensor-to-controller; time-to-digital converter; phase detector; lock-in amplifier;

    Abstract : The subject of Embedded Measurement Systems (EMS) is the merging of embedded systems and electrical measurement systems. This indicates that EMSs are hardware-software systems dedicated to measuring one or a few physical quantities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Transformation Optics for Controlling DC Magnetic Field

    Author : Fei Sun; Sailing He; Hao Yang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Transformation magneto-statics; magnets; DC magnetic field; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : Based on the form-invariant of Maxwell’s equations under coordinate transformations, we extend the theoryof transformation optics to transformation magneto-statics, which can design magnets through coordinatetransformations. Some novel DC magnetic field illusions created by magnets (e.g. READ MORE

  4. 4. Applications of Microwave Heating of Foods

    Author : Birgitta Raaholt; RISE; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; modelling of microwave heating; microwave-assisted HTST processing; product quality.; heat transfer; microwave heating; microwave oven; heating uniformity; microwave cavity; tubular microwave in-flow processing;

    Abstract : AbstractMicrowave heating of foods offers rapid and flexible heating both for consumer and industrial applications, with several advantages, such as reduced processing time (due to volumetric heating and reduced coming-up times (heating time required to reach the desired target temperature), selective heating, increased process flexibility and efficient heating (volumetric heating of the food does not require heating of a surrounding medium or package). However, successful installations requireknowledge in process design. READ MORE

  5. 5. High temperature corrosion of low-alloyed and stainless steels: mechanistic study of chlorine-induced corrosion

    Author : Mercedes Andrea Olivas Ogaz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steels; low-alloyed steels; pre-oxidation; High temperature corrosion; chlorine-induced corrosion;

    Abstract : The global demand on power generation is constantly increasing and so far, also its environmental impact. The environmental impact could primarily be directed to the power generation being based on fossil fuels, giving a net increase of CO2 to the atmosphere when combusted. READ MORE
