  1. 1. Resource and Environmental Impacts of Resource-Efficiency Measures Applied to Electronic Products

    Author : Hampus André; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; scarce metals; life cycle assessment; resource-efficiency; electronic products; resource depletion; circular economy; metal resource use;

    Abstract : Natural resources such as ecosystems, land, water and metals underpin the functioning of economies and human well-being, and are becoming increasingly scarce due to growth in population and affluence. Metals are increasingly demanded for their specific properties as modern technology develops. READ MORE

  2. 2. Enhancing Environmental Performance by Green Procurement : A study of environmental procurement preferences in the construction industry

    Author : Annika Varnäs; Berit Balfors; Charlotta Faith-Ell; Olof Hjelm; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Green procurement; Environmental management; Construction industry; Environmental criteria; Environmental requirement; EIA; EMS; Public procurement; Construction project; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : In recent years, the general awareness of the environmental impacts that industrial production gives rise to has radically increased throughout the world. Finding ways to minimise these impacts has become a major concern of the authorities in many countries. READ MORE

  3. 3. Removal of Organic Micropollutants from Wastewater in Biofilm Systems

    Author : Cecilia Burzio; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pharmaceuticals; Organic Micropollutants; Biological Treatment; Sorption; Aerobic Granular Sludge;

    Abstract : The presence of organic hazardous substances in the aquatic environment, such as pharmaceutically active compounds and personal care products, has become a worldwide issue of increasing environmental concern. Present at concentration of nano- to milligram per liter, they are defined as organic micropollutants (OMPs). READ MORE

  4. 4. Contaminants of Emerging Concern in Swedish Freshwater Environments: Sources, Occurrence, and Impacts

    Author : Daniel Malnes; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) is one of several reasons for the deterioration of surface water quality globally, even though the CECs occur in trace concentrations. This thesis produced new CEC data through a oneyear field study for substances which occur in Sweden’s three largest lakes and their associated rivers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Wide-scope screening for contaminants of emerging concern in archived biota: Method development, suspect prioritisation, and non-target screening in a novel identification tool

    Author : Wiebke Dürig; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Environmental monitoring of hazardous chemicals in wildlife conventionally uses target screening for selected contaminants, but relatively few contaminants are moni-tored and knowledge of potentially hazardous contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in wildlife is lacking. In this thesis, a non-target screening (NTS) method com-bined with temporal trend analysis was developed and applied as a prioritisation tool for identification of CECs in top predators, using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS).
