  1. 11. Deuterium isotopomers as a tool in environmental research

    Author : Tatiana Betson; Jürgen Schleucher; Peter Högberg; Richard Robins; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; deuterium; NMR; isotopomers; CO2 response; climate reconstruction; persistent pollutants; stable isotopes; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development and the use of quantitative deuterium Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy (NMR) as a tool in two areas of environmental research: the study of long term climate-plant interactions and the source tracking of persistent organic pollutant. Long-term interactions between plants and climate will influence climate change during this century and beyond, but cannot be studied in manipulative experiments. READ MORE

  2. 12. Promotion of Environmental Technology Export : Governmental Initiatives and Business Concepts

    Author : Wisdom Kanda; Olof Hjelm; Dzamila Bienkowska; Per Frankelius; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This qualitative and quantitative study examines governmental initiatives and business concepts as approaches to promote the export of environmental technology. Here, environmental technology refers to technologies (products, services, organizational models, and large-scaled technical systems) whose development and use actually provide or intends to provide a better environmental performance than their relevant alternatives from a life cycle perspective. Abstract : Some environmental issues for shipping are regulated globally with uniform standards and others with stricter regulations in specific areas. This thesis aims to provide an understanding of why a regional approach was chosen with SOx Emission Control Areas (SECAs) as the main form of control of sulphur oxide emissions from international shipping, with explanations based on documents from negotiations within the International Maritime Organization (IMO) during 1988-1997. 4. 14. Substance flow analyses of metals and organic compounds in an urban environment : – the Stockholm example

    Author : Nina Månsson; Bo Bergbäck; Stefan Anderberg; Högskolan i Kalmar; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Abstract : The intensified use of materials, products and goods in our time involves massive consumption of metals and organic compounds that can be released from society to the environment in the various stages of production, use and waste. Depending on the circumstances this may give rise to environmental risks, as metals in general and certain organic substances may be toxic in the short or long term. READ MORE
