  1. 6. Lipases as Biocatalysts in Organic Media. Influence of Enzyme Preparation and Reaction Conditions on Activity and Selectivity

    Author : Mattias Persson; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biochemical technology; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; water activity; temperature; enantioselectivity; immobilisation; organic solvents; lyophilisation; Lipases; Accurel EP-100; Biokemisk teknik; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Abstract : The discovery that enzymes can function in organic solvents has broadened the scope of biocatalysis, making enzymes highly useful tools for organic chemists. The widespread use of enzymes as catalysts in organic solvents has, however, been limited by the low activity obtained for enzymes in organic solvents compared to aqueous solutions. READ MORE

  2. 7. Tools in biocatalysis : enzyme immobilisation on silica and synthesis of enantiopure amines

    Author : Karim Engelmark Cassimjee; Per Berglund; Torkel Berglund; Torbjörn Gräslund; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis presents two techniques in the field of biocatalysis: An enzyme immobilisation method based on the His6-tag for attachment on modified silica oxide beads, and it’s employment in aqueous and organic medium for synthesis applications. The method functions as a one step extraction and immobilisation protocol. READ MORE

  3. 8. Molecular development of a thermostable β-glucosidase for modification of natural products

    Author : Sami Khan; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : Thermotoga neapolitana; TnBgl1A; Mutagenesis; Flavonoid; Quercetin; Immobilisation; Chaperones;

    Abstract : The gene encoding a β-glucosidase originating from the extreme thermophile Thermotoga neopolitana has been cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The aim was to produce a thermostable enzyme that could be used to remove sugar residues from glucosylated natural products classified as flavonoids by applying a method combining extraction in hot pressurized water with enzymatic hydrolysis. 4. 9. Microfluidic biosensing systems based on enzymes, antibodies and cells

    Author : Richard Davidsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; chemiluminescence; immobilization; cell; antibody; enzyme; miniaturization; Microfluidic; microchip;

    Abstract : The rapid developments within the life science and biotechnology areas put up ever-new demands on more sophisticated techniques and methods for chemical and biological analysis to reach deeper insight into the events at molecular level. Miniaturisation of assays and systems on microchips is one way to increase throughput and advance through parallel analysis lines, multiplexing and integration. READ MORE

  5. 10. Elicitor-induced formation of secondary products in plant cell cultures. Production of benzophenanthridine alkaloids in Eschscholtzia californica Cham. and hydroxycinnamic acid tyramides in Nicotiana glutinosa L

    Author : Mirza Villegas; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; macarpine; chelerythrine; sanguinarine; benzophenanthridine alkaloids; Nicotiana glutinosa; Eschscholtzia californica; secondary metabolites; Key words elicitors; immobilisation; hydroxycinnamoyltyramides.; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Abstract : Biotic and abiotic elicitors induce biosynthesis of secondary metabolites (phytoalexins) as a defense against pathogenic organisms in plants. The use of cell suspension cultures in combination with elicitors offer excellent experimental model systems for studies on various elicitor-induced responses of plant tissues. READ MORE
