  1. 1. Dynamics of Enzymes at Interfaces : Lipase adsorption and mobility on solid surfaces

    Author : Andreas Sonesson; Hjalmar Brismar; Robert Tilton; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; biophysics; surface chemistry; diffusion; enzymes; lipases; adsorption; mobility; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis aimed to give more insight in the dynamics of enzymes at interfaces. The adsorption and mobility of adsorbed proteins can e.g. give a better understanding of structure-function properties of interfacially active enzymes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modelling of molybdopterin-dependent enzymes

    Author : Anders Thapper; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inorganic chemistry; enzymes; transition state; intermediate; mechanism; molybdopterin; density functional theory; model systems; oxygen atom transfer; molybdenum; tungsten; Oorganisk kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The thesis deals with models for molybdopterin-dependent enzymes. Several model systems containing molybdenum or tungsten have been prepared and characterised, and their reactivity with oxygen atom acceptors and donors have been investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Production and investigation of highly thermophilic multi-domain carbohydrate-active enzymes

    Author : Daniel Krska; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein structure; xylanase; carbohydrate esterase; multidomain enzymes; carbohydrate-active enzymes; thermostable enzymes; plant biomass degradation; Caldicellulosiruptor;

    Abstract : With the looming threat of climate change caused largely by an excess of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, recent scientific efforts have focused on the substitution of fossil fuels and other polluting compounds with more environmentally conscious choices. To this end, the investigation of biomass as both a renewable source of energy and as a chemical basis to produce high-value products is being extensively investigated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Spectroelectrochemistry of Redox Enzymes

    Author : Andreas Christenson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elektrokemi; Electrochemistry; complex II; bilirubin oxidase; laccase; enzyme mechanism; redox potential; electron transfer; spectroelectrochemistry; redox enzymes; Spectroelectrochemical cell;

    Abstract : A low volume and long optical path spectroelectrochemical cell was constructed and tested in a number of applications such as detection of direct electron transfer (DET) between redox enzymes and gold electrodes, determination of the formal potentials of redox centres in proteins and enzymes, as well as mechanistic studies of heterogeneous and intermolecular electron transfer of copper oxidases and succinate:quinine oxidoreductase (Complex II). The existence of DET between enzymes and electrodes was demonstrated for theophylline oxidase, cytochrome P450 cam, laccase, bilirubin oxidase, sulphite oxidase and Complex II. READ MORE
