6. Epigenetics in nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Abstract : Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) shows a remarkably distinctive ethnic and geographic distribution among the world suggesting that genetic susceptibility backgrounds cooperate with the environmental risk factors in etiology of NPCs. Among the environmental factors, much attention has been focused on a well-documented association with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which can be detected in 100% undifferentiated NPCs. READ MORE

7. Epigenetic and Phenotypic Profiling of Urothelial Carcinoma
Abstract : Precise spatial and temporal regulation of gene expression programs is a prerequisite for multicellular life. Since the discovery of DNA as the carrier of genetic information, a key question in biology has been how these hard coded instructions are read and regulated to maintain cellular and organismal homeostasis. 8. Growth and Behaviour : Epigenetic and Genetic Factors Involved in Hybrid Dysgenesis
Abstract : In mammals, the most frequently observed hybrid dysgenesis effects are growth disturbances and male sterility. Profound defects in placental development have been described and our work on hybrids in genus Mus has demonstrated putative hybrid dysgenesis effects that lead to defects in lipid homeostasis and maternal behavior. 9. Epigenetic influence on cardiovascular protective mechanisms in vivo: explorations of t-PA release and extracellular vesicle genetic content
Abstract : ABSTRACT Background: Ischemic heart disease is one of the leading causes of death globally. This thesis explores endogenous mechanisms protecting against myocardial ischemia in context of epigenetics (changes in gene activity not caused by changes in DNA sequences). READ MORE

10. Pancreatic Cancer - Early Detection, Prognostic Factors, and Treatment
Abstract : Background: Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death. Only about 6% of patients are alive 5 years after diagnosis. One reason for this low survival rate is that most patients are diagnosed at a late stage, when the tumor has spread to surrounding tissues or distant organs. READ MORE
