6. In vitro studies of cytostatic drugs and growth factors on leukemic and normal hematopoietic cells : based on in vivo intracellular pharmacokinetics
Abstract : The aims were to develop, evaluate and apply in vitro methods for cytostatic drug sensitivity, based on intracellular concentrations found after in vivo infusions. The intracellular pharmacokinetics of anthraquinones and ara-C were compared during and after infusion to leukemic patients. Drug concentrations were evaluated with HPLC. READ MORE

7. Chemosensitivity in Breast Cancer
Abstract : Breast cancer mortality in Sweden is now in decline, thanks to early detection and the wide use of adjuvant endocrine therapy and chemotherapy. While hormone receptor status is predictive of response to endocrine treatment, there is no clinically useful predictive marker of a patient’s response to chemotherapy. READ MORE

8. Exploring Cancer Drugs In Vitro and In Vivo : With Special Reference to Chemosensitivity Testing and Early Clinical Development
Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate the utility of in vitro drug sensitivity testing to optimize the use of cancer chemotherapy and to assess the properties of a new cancer drug in a phase I clinical trial. Tumour cells from patients were analysed with the short-term Fluorometric Microculture Cytotoxicity Assay (FMCA). READ MORE

9. Prognostic and Predictive Factors in Bladder Cancer
Abstract : Bladder cancer is a potentially curable malignancy; however in regards to the state of current therapy regimens, a plateau has been reached in both the non-muscle and muscle invasive types. To obtain effective treatment, and consequently a decreased mortality, it has become imperative to test and understand aspects affecting therapy response. READ MORE

10. Quality of life and psychological reactions in women on first line chemotherapy for metastatic breast cancer - Correlations to tumour response and predictive factors
Abstract : Background: Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is an important endpoint in clinical trials and as an aspect that must be considered in the treatment of patients with metastatic breast cancer. Treatment efficacy and toxicity are important factors for HRQoL, so it is imperative to study the effects of oncological treatment in terms of HRQoL. READ MORE
