  1. 1. Biomass Potential for Heat, Electricity and Vehicle Fuel in Sweden

    Author : Peter Hagström; Bengt Hillring; Per Olov Nilsson; Leif Gustafsson; Paul Mitchell; Skogsmästarskolan Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; bioenergy potential; biomass potential; cost analysis; emergy; energy analysis; energy scenarios; systems analysis; thermochemical conversion; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis was to determine how far a biomass quantity, equal to the potential produced within the Swedish borders, could cover the present energy needs inSwedenwith respect to economic and ecological circumstances. Three scenarios were studied where the available biomass was converted to heat, electricity and vehicle fuel. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functional and structural properties of eukaryotic DNA polymerase epsilon

    Author : Olga Chilkova; Erik Johansson; Per Elias; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; eukaryotic DNA replication; DNA polymerase epsilon; protein-DNA interaction; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : In eukaryotes there are three DNA polymerases which are essential for the replication of chromosomal DNA: DNA polymerase alpha (Pol alpha), DNA polymerase delta (Pol delta) and DNA polymerase epsilon (Pol epsilon). In vitro studies of viral DNA replication showed that Pol alpha and Pol delta are sufficient for DNA replication on both leading and lagging DNA strands, thus leaving the function of Pol epsilon unknown. 3. 3. Role of yeast DNA polymerase epsilon during DNA replication

    Author : Isabelle Isoz; Erik Johansson; Juhani Syväoja; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; DNA polymerase epsilon; eukaryotic DNA replication; fidelity; leading strand; Dpb2; Biochemistry and clinical chemistry; Biokemi och klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Each cell division, the nuclear DNA must be replicated efficiently and with high accuracy to avoid mutations which can have an effect on cell function. There are three replicative DNA polymerases essential for the synthesis of DNA during replication in eukaryotic cells. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structure of eukaryotic DNA polymerase epsilon and lesion bypass capability

    Author : Nasim Sabouri; Erik Johansson; Lars Thelander; Ola Hammarsten; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DNA polymerase epsilon; DNA replication; Okazaki fragment; Translesion synthesis; DNA lesion; dNTP; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : To transfer the information in the genome from mother cell to daughter cell, the DNA replication must be carried out only once and with very high fidelity prior to every cell division. In yeast there are several different DNA polymerases involved in DNA replication and/or DNA repair. READ MORE
