11. Hydrodynamics, Erosion and Heat Transfer in Pressurized Fluidized Beds
Abstract : Measurements of hydrodynamics, local tube erosion and local instantaneous bed-to-tube heat transfer were carried out in a cold, pressurized, fluidized bed with different horizontal tube banks. The influence of pressure, fluidization velocity, particle size and tube-bank geometry was studied. READ MORE

12. Hydrological effects of water harvesting techniques
Abstract : The thesis investigates hydrological effects of large-scale water harvesting techniques on local water balances as well as sediment erosion. The techniques of tabias, soil contour ridges and small hill reservoirs are investigated. Pertinent processes are observed and simulated using various hydrological models.. READ MORE

13. Design of grout curtains under dams founded on rock
Abstract : Grouting has long been implemented as a ground improvement technique to reduce the seepage through the rock mass. Grout curtains are usually constructed under dams as a barrier to prevent leakage from the reservoir. So far, the grout curtains under dams have mainly been designed by using an empirical design approach. READ MORE

14. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 15. Hydrological and sediment yield modelling in Lake Tana Basin, Blue Nile Ethiopia
Abstract : Land and water resources degradation are the major problems on the Ethiopian highlands. Poor land use practices and improper management systems have played a significant role in causing high soil erosion rates, sediment transport and loss of agricultural nutrients. So far limited meas-ures have been taken to combat the problems. READ MORE
