  1. 11. Hydrodynamics, Erosion and Heat Transfer in Pressurized Fluidized Beds

    Author : Jan Wiman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrodynamics erosion; heat transfer; tubes; fluidized bed; gas flow; pressurized fluidized bed; bubble;

    Abstract : Measurements of hydrodynamics, local tube erosion and local instantaneous bed-to-tube heat transfer were carried out in a cold, pressurized, fluidized bed with different horizontal tube banks. The influence of pressure, fluidization velocity, particle size and tube-bank geometry was studied. READ MORE

  2. 12. Hydrological effects of water harvesting techniques

    Author : Slah Nasri; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik; offshore technology; hydraulic engineering; hydrological effects; Civil engineering; rainwater harvesting; erosion;

    Abstract : The thesis investigates hydrological effects of large-scale water harvesting techniques on local water balances as well as sediment erosion. The techniques of tabias, soil contour ridges and small hill reservoirs are investigated. Pertinent processes are observed and simulated using various hydrological models.. READ MORE

  3. 13. Design of grout curtains under dams founded on rock

    Author : Suihan Zhang; Fredrik Johansson; Johan Funehag; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Grout curtains; Rock grouting; Dams; Erosion; Infilling materials in rock fractures; Injekteringsridåer; Berginjektering; Dammar; Erosion; Sprickfyllnadsmaterial; Soil and Rock Mechanics; Jord- och bergmekanik;

    Abstract : Grouting has long been implemented as a ground improvement technique to reduce the seepage through the rock mass. Grout curtains are usually constructed under dams as a barrier to prevent leakage from the reservoir. So far, the grout curtains under dams have mainly been designed by using an empirical design approach. READ MORE

  4. 14. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry

    Author : Erik A. A. Nilsson; Marta-Lena Antti; Ragnar Tegman; Jan-Erik Svensson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; Grate-Kiln; microstructure; corrosion; as-casted; thermal cycling; erosion; deposition; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 5. 15. Hydrological and sediment yield modelling in Lake Tana Basin, Blue Nile Ethiopia

    Author : Shimelis Gebriye Setegn; Bijan Dargahi; Anders Wörman; C. Green Rossi; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SWAT; Lake Tana; Blue Nile; hydrological modelling; watershed modelling; MCE; SUFI-2; GLUE; ParaSol; streamflows; sediment yield; erosion; water balance; model calibration; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Land and water resources degradation are the major problems on the Ethiopian highlands. Poor land use practices and improper management systems have played a significant role in causing high soil erosion rates, sediment transport and loss of agricultural nutrients. So far limited meas-ures have been taken to combat the problems. READ MORE
