  1. 6. Predicting surfacing internal erosion in moraine core dams

    Author : Hans Rönnqvist; Anders Wörman; Hans Bergh; Kaare Høeg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; internal erosion; internal stability; filters; moraine core; embankment dams; sinkholes; internal erosion assessment; Geoengineering and mining engineering; Geoteknik och gruvteknik;

    Abstract : Dams that comprise broadly and widely graded glacial materials, such as moraines, have been found to be susceptible to internal erosion, perhaps more than dams of other soil types. Internal erosion washes out fine-grained particles from the filling material; the erosion occurs within the material itself or at an interface to another dam zone, depending on the mode of initiation. 2. 7. Cognitive erosion and its implications in Alzheimer’s disease

    Author : Selina Mårdh; Thomas Karlsson; Anders Wallin; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was twofold, first to map the semantic memory decline in Alzheimer patients over time, second to take the patient’s perspective and create a multifaceted picture of the individual with Alzheimer’s disease through the study of memory, awareness, central coherence and emotions. Further issues concerned how Alzheimer individuals handled their cognitive erosion in everyday life and if they were well calibrated with their spouse in disease related matters. READ MORE

  3. 8. Palaeosurfaces and palaeovalleys on North Atlantic previously glaciated passive margins : reference forms for conclusions on uplift and erosion

    Author : Johan M. Bonow; Karna Lidmar-Bergström; Clas Hättestrand; Jens-Ove Näslund; Mats Olvmo; Adrian Hall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palaeosurface; palaeovalley; uplift; valley; incision; glacial erosion; weathering; Neogene; southern Norway; West Greenland; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : Palaeosurfaces and palaeovalleys are landforms under destruction in the present climate and/or tectonic regime, and thus mainly reflect processes not active today. Uplifted palaeosurfaces exist along the formerly glaciated passive continental margins around the North Atlantic. READ MORE
