1. Fault Injection for Studying Error Behavior and Validation of Error Detecting Mechanisms
Abstract : This thesis deals with the design and validation of low-cost error detecting mechanisms that can be used to implement self-checking computers. The research objectives of the thesis are three-fold: (i) to investigate and develop a simulation-based fault injection technique that can be used on a wide range of VHDL simulation models, (ii) to investigate error propagation mechanisms in microprocessors in order to understand how to design low-cost error detecting mechanisms and (iii) to design and validate error detecting mechanisms. 2. Error analysis of summation-by-parts formulations : Dispersion, transmission and accuracy
Abstract : In this thesis we consider errors arising from finite difference operators on summation-by-parts (SBP) form, used in the discretisation of partial differential equations. The SBP operators are augmented with simultaneous-approximation-terms (SATs) to weakly impose boundary conditions. READ MORE

4. Numerical Methods for Wave Propagation : Analysis and Applications in Quantum Dynamics
Abstract : We study numerical methods for time-dependent partial differential equations describing wave propagation, primarily applied to problems in quantum dynamics governed by the time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE). We consider both methods for spatial approximation and for time stepping. READ MORE

5. Mobile Satellite Broadcast and Multichannel Communications : analysis and design
Abstract : In this thesis, analytical analysis and design techniques for wireless communications with diversity are studied. The impact of impairments such as correlated fading is analyzed using statistical models. Countermeasures designed to overcome, or even exploit, such effects are proposed and examined. READ MORE
