1. Crosslinking of Ethylene Copolymers
Abstract : The chemical reactions taking place when crosslinking poly(ethylene-co-vinyltrimethoxysilane) (EVS) have been studied. Films of EVS were stored in water at 90 °C or treated at processing temperatures in a tubular oven. The different chemical groups involved in the reactions were then followed by FTIR after different treatment times. READ MORE

2. Poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) Preparation and Properties in Polymer Blends
Abstract : This thesis describes the preparation, characterisation and properties of poly(ethylene-graft-ethylene oxide) (PE-PEO). The grafting reaction was carried out with the grafting onto method using the carboxylic acid groups of poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (PEAA) as reactive sites in an esterification reaction with poly(ethylene oxide) mono-methyl ethers (MPEO) of varying molecular weights: 750, 2000 and 5000. 3. Modification of Surface Properties Through Polymer Adsorption. Kinetics, Interaction, Degradation and Stability
Abstract : The interfacial behaviour of polymers in relation to surface modification and polymer degradation was studied. In the first part the interfacial behaviour of amphiphilic poly(ethylene oxide)–poly(D,L-lactide) (EmLn) diblock copolymers at hydrophilic and hydrophobic substrates from aquous solution was studied. 4. Thermal Degradation and Adhesion Studies of Ethylene Copolymers
Abstract : The thermal stability of ethylene(vinyl acetate) (EVA), ethylene(n-butyl acrylate) (EBA), ethylene(vinyl trimethoxy silane) (EVS) and ethylene(vinyl trimetoxy, butylacrylate) (EVSBA) copolymers have been mapped out in this study. The different ester groups', i.e. READ MORE

5. Anionic Graft Copolymers with Poly(ethylene oxide) Side-Chains; Synthesis, Solution Properties and Ion Conduction
Abstract : The research underlaying this thesis involves synthesis and characterization of well-defined anionic graft copolymers carrying poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) side-chains. Two different grafting techniques were used. Backbone polymers were prepared through radical terpolymerization of maleic anhydride, styrene and an additional comonomer. READ MORE
