21. Electrical Insulating Properties of Poly(Ethylene-co-Butyl Acrylate) Filled with Alumina Nanoparticles
Abstract : In this work the electrical insulating properties of the nanocomposite materials based on poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) filled with alumina nanoparticles are studied. The dielectric properties chosen for the evaluation are the dielectric permittivity and loss as well as the breakdown strength and the pre-breakdown currents. READ MORE

22. Preparation and long-term performance of poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) nanocomposites and polyethylene
Abstract : The current study discusses the preparation and long-term performance of polymer composites used for various purposes under different ageing conditions. The first part deals with the preparation and characterization of polymer nanocomposites based on poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) (EBA–13 and EBA–28 with 13 and 28 wt % butyl acrylate, respectively) and 2–12 wt % (0. 23. Structural Aspects of Peroxide Crosslinking of Polyethylene
Abstract : Despite major developments in the ways of polymerising ethylene (the processes as well as the catalysts) the use of polyethylene is still restricted in several applications due to its low melting point. This shortcoming can in some areas be overcome by the introduction of crosslinks between the polymer chains. READ MORE

24. Self Assembly at the Liquid Air Interface
Abstract : The aim of this work is to study the interfacial properties of amphiphilic compounds at the liquid–air interface in an attempt to develop a comprehensive understanding of their orientation as well as the influence of their interaction with the solvent on the interfacial layer properties. Using Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy (VSFS) as the main tool, the molecular structure of the amphiphilic layer and the amphiphile–solvent relation can be illuminated in great detail – it is arguably the most sensitive surface spectroscopy currently available. 25. The Bentonite Barrier - Swelling Properties, Redox Chemistry and Mineral Evolution
Abstract : Bentonite is planned for use as a buffer material in high-level radioactive waste repositories, where safety assessment is performed for very long periods (100-1000 ka). This thesis focuses on the swelling of smectites in liquid water, and analysis of bentonite from field experiments at Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory, Sweden. READ MORE
