  1. 1. Eutectic Modification of Al-Si casting alloys

    Author : Jenifer Barrirero; Frank Mücklich; Magnus Odén; Franz Jospeh Feikus; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Aluminum alloys with silicon as the major alloying element are the most widely used aluminum casting alloys. The eutectic phase in these alloys is formed by hard and brittle silicon plates in an aluminum matrix. Such silicon plates can act as crack propagation paths deteriorating the toughness of the material. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characterization and Modification of Microstructure in Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni Eutectic High-Entropy Alloys

    Author : Adrianna Lozinko; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; eutectic alloys; solidification; orientation relationship; high-entropy alloys; microstructure; EBSD; recrystallization;

    Abstract : The recently emerging high-entropy alloys (HEAs) present a novel alloying strategy, significantly expanding the scope of metal alloy design. HEAs are defined as alloys consisting of at least four principal elements in equi- or near equiatomic ratios, with a possibility of small amounts of alloying elements. READ MORE

  3. 3. Al-Si Cast Alloys - Microstructure and Mechanical Properties at Ambient and Elevated Temperatures

    Author : Mohammadreza Zamani; Salem Seifeddine; Anders Jarfors; Franco Bonollo; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminium cast alloys; eutectic modification; microstructural scale effect; transition metals; room and elevated temperatures tensile properties; physically-based constitutive model.;

    Abstract : Swedish industry is a global leader in development and manufacture of automotive and aviation components where the usage of aluminium products is remarkable. In addition to manufacturing aluminium components, casting enables low-cost and low-emission production of complex geometry components with a range of sizes. READ MORE

  4. 4. High performing cast aluminium-silicon alloys

    Author : Martin Riestra; Salem Seifeddine; Ehsan Ghassemali; Jessica Elfsberg; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminium cast alloys; melt quality; eutectic modification; grain refinement; microstructure; tensile properties;

    Abstract : The need to produce lighter components due to environmental aspects and the development of electrical vehicles represents an opportunity for cast aluminium-silicon alloys. With high specific strength, good castability, high corrosion resistance and recyclability, these alloys offer an attractive combination of properties as an alternative to steel, cast iron and titanium-based components in certain applications. 5. 5. Al-Si Cast Alloys - Microstructure and Mechanical Properties at Ambient and Elevated Temperature

    Author : Mohammadreza Zamani; Anders Jarfors; Sten Johansson; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Al-Si based casting alloys; elevated temperature; microstructural scale effect; Sr modification;

    Abstract : Aluminium alloys with Si as the major alloying element form a class of material providing the most significant part of all casting manufactured materials. These alloys have a wide range of applications in the automotive and aerospace industries due to an excellent combination of castability and mechanical properties, as well as good corrosion resistance and wear resistivity.
