  1. 21. Optional rhemes and omitted undergoers : An event structure approach to implicit objects in Swedish

    Author : Johanna Prytz; Cecilia Falk; Ida Larsson; Marit Julien; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; implicit objects; object omission; null objects; object drop; objectless sentences; pseudo-transitive; non-core transitive; transitivity; Swedish; event structure; argument structure; the syntax-semantic interface; implicita objekt; objektsutelämning; nollobjekt; objektslösa satser; pseudotransitiva verb; transitivitet; eventstruktur; argumentstruktur; Scandinavian Languages;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to define the essential syntactic-semantic properties of three types of objectless sentences in present-day Swedish. The three types of objectless sentences are labeled descriptively as follows: Implicit Object Read type (IOR) with pseudo-transitive verbs like läsa ‘read’; Implicit Object Open type (IOO), which involves various sets of transitive verbs like öppna ‘open’ and bära ‘carry’; and Implicit Object Kill type (IOK), which typically involves destruction verbs like döda ‘kill’. 2. 22. The Shape of Strangeness: Transverse Spherocity and Underlying Event studies of φ and its relation to Ξ in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions

    Author : Adrian Nassirpour; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LHC; ALICE; Quark-Gluon Plasma; small systems; pp collisions; underlying event; event-shape engineering; transverse activity; strangeness enhancement; resonance production; Fysicumarkivet A:2022:Nassirpour;

    Abstract : Through ultrarelativistic particle collisions at the LHC, it is possible to deconfine quarks and gluons. This deconfinement gives rise to a strongly interacting medium, referred to as the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). READ MORE

  3. 23. Fearful attention : Investigating event-related potentials in spider phobia

    Author : Joakim Norberg; Stefan Wiens; Jonas Persson; Harald Schupp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; attention; phobia; event-related potential; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Previous studies showed that emotional pictures capture attention. Further, this effect was decreased by manipulating spatial attention. In contrast, studies produced mixed findings for effects of perceptual load on attention to emotional pictures. Emotional pictures can be phobic or nonphobic. READ MORE

  4. 24. Gait Event Detection in the Real World

    Author : Siddhartha Khandelwal; Nicholas Wickström; Thorsteinn Rögnvaldsson; Brian Caulfield; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; gait analysis; gait event detection; wearable sensors; accelerometers;

    Abstract : Healthy gait requires a balance between various neuro-physiological systems and is considered an important indicator of a subject's physical and cognitive health status. As such, health-related applications would immensely benefit by performing long-term or continuous monitoring of subjects' gait in their natural environment and everyday lives. READ MORE
