  1. 26. Exploring Evidence-based Practice Through New Forms of Engagement

    Author : Isabella Pistone; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; vetenskapsteori; vetenskapssociologi; tekniksociologi; evidensbaserad sjukvård; evidensbaserat socialt arbete; evidence-based medicine; evidence-based social work; science - social aspects;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with how to connect Science and Technology Studies (STS) with Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) through new forms of engagements. EBP is commonly associated with efforts to improve quality of welfare services. The principles and methods associated with EBP have been criticized for being reductionist. READ MORE

  2. 27. Supporting evidence-based design using lighting simulations : A framework for lighting simulation of visual comfort in building design

    Author : Anahita Davoodi; Myriam Aries; Peter Johansson; Thorbjörn Laike; John Mardaljevic; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lighting quality; visual comfort; lighting simulation; evidence-based design; field study; post-occupancy evaluation; Ljuskvalitet; visuell komfort; ljussimulering; evidensbaserad design; fältstudie; brukarutvärderingar;

    Abstract : This research aims to integrate lighting simulation into the evidence-based design process for achieving improved lighting outcomes in built environments with a particular emphasis on visual comfort analysis in office settings. The objectives of the study include 1) understanding the current usage of lighting simulation tools, learning designers’ experiences' and needs, 2) providing a conceptual framework to integrate the use of lighting simulation in the evidence-based design (EBD) process, 3) testing the usage of the conceptual framework (named EBD-SIM) through two field studies. 3. 28. The Assessment of Capacity for Myoelectric Control : Psychometric evidence and comparison with upper limb prosthetic outcome measures

    Author : Helen Lindner; Liselotte Hermansson; Ann-Christin Eliasson; Ann Langius Eklöf; Helena Burger; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; capacity; comparison; icf; myoelectric control; psychometric evidence; upper limb prosthesis;

    Abstract : Evaluation of outcomes using validated prosthetic outcome measures (OMs) is a current priority in upper limb (UL) prosthetics, and OMs with psychometric evidence toward UL prosthesis users are thus necessary. The “Assessment of Capacity for Myoelectric Control” (ACMC) is a tool that assesses the ability to control a myoelectric prosthetic hand. READ MORE

  4. 29. Evidence-Based Practice in Practice : Exploring Conditions for Using Research in Physiotherapy

    Author : Petra Dannapfel; Per Nilsen; Anneli Peolsson; Boel Andersson Gäre; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Research developments have led to increased opportunities for the use of improved diagnostic and treatment methods in physiotherapy and other areas of health care. The emergence of the evidence-based practice (EBP) movement has led to higher expectations for a more research-informed health care practice that integrates the best available research evidence with clinical experience and patient priorities and values. 5. 30. Learning history in an enquiry and source-based practice : What do students need to learn in relation to second-order concepts to be able to handle historical sources?

    Author : Anders Nersäter; Ulla Runesson Kempe; Carl-Johan Svensson; David Rosenlund; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; history teaching; historical thinking; historical sources; second-order concepts; evidence; historical empathy; causation; variation theory; critical aspects; learning study;

    Abstract : In this thesis, results from three studies and a reanalysis have been combined to provide knowledge of what students need to learn in relation to the second-order concepts of evidence, historical empathy and causation, for them to be able to handle historical sources and construct accounts. Data has been collected in two intervention studies conducted in collaboration with a group of upper secondary teachers. READ MORE
