1. Modeling, Control and Optimization of a Plate Reactor
Abstract : A new chemical reactor, the Alfa Laval Plate Reactor, is being developed by Alfa Laval, a Swedish world-leading heat exchanger company. The plate reactor combines the high-heat-transfer capabilities of plate heat exchangers with the efficient mixing and reaction control typical of microreactors. READ MORE

2. The silicon nitride reaction-bonding process
Abstract : The so called Reaction-Bonded Silicon Nitride (RBSN) materials are usually produced through the chemical reaction of silicon powder compacts in a nitriding atmosphere. This nitriding reaction is strongly exothermic and much heat is generated, which may cause to overheating, even melting of the powder compacts so to hinder the further reaction due to the reduction of specific area of the powder compacts, especially when the nitridation involves a rather large mass of silicon. 3. Metal Cluster Reactivity. Adsorption of small molecules in biomolecular collisions
Abstract : Metal clusters can be characterized as the tiniest possible metal particles, containing only an easily counted number of atoms. In this work, reactions between metal clusters and diatomic molecules have been investigated. We have constructed an experimental set-up to produce and detect clusters, and to investigate their chemical reactivity. READ MORE

4. Fundamental studies of non-premixed combustion in turbulent wall jets using direct numerical simulation
Abstract : The present thesis deals with the fundamental aspects of turbulent mixingand non-premixed combustion in wall-jet flows. Direct numerical simulations(DNS) of compressible turbulent flows are performed in a wall-jet configura-tion, which has a close resemblance to many industrial combustion applica-tions. READ MORE

5. Development of Zonal Models for Analysis of Engine Knock
Abstract : Autoignition in SI engines is an abnormal combustion mode and may lead to engine knock which is an undesired phenomenon in SI engines. It may cause damage and it is a source of noise in engines. Knock limits the compression ratio of the engine and a low compression ratio means low fuel conversion efficiency of the engine. READ MORE
