11. Volume effects of albumin infusion in humans
Abstract : Background: The use of colloids when treating a patient for hypovolemia has been debated throughout the years. During the last decade, albumin solutions have become the colloids of choice in both operating theatres and intensive care settings when crystalloid fluids are insufficient. READ MORE

12. Microstructure and phase transformation of Ti-6Al-4V
Abstract : The research described in the thesis concerns phase transformations and fatigue properties in the Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The need to weld the alloy for certain engine components can expose the alloy locally to non-optimum thermal cycles and it is therefore of importance to gain an understanding of the kinetics involved in the phase transformations during heating and cooling. 13. Structured Carbon-Alkaline Earth Metal Halides Composites for Ammonia Storage
Abstract : NOx (NO, NO2) is one of the most harmful air-pollutants from exhaust, resulting in series of environmental problems as well as severe healthy issues for human beings. Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system is a common approach to eliminate NOx onboard by using ammonia as a reductant. READ MORE

14. Identification of Unique Hematopoietic Stem Cell Properties
Abstract : Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are sufficient and required for life long production of all blood cell lineages. Steady state HSCs are largely quiescent and we demonstrate that the kinetics of HSC cell cycling are slower compared to more committed progenitor cells also during expansion and self-renewal ex vivo and in physiological conditions. 15. The microstructures of Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo and their relationship to processing and properties
Abstract : The research described in the thesis concerns phase transformations and mechanical properties of the titanium alloys Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo. The need to weld the alloys for certain engine components can expose the alloy locally to non-optimum thermal cycles and it is therefore of importance to gain an understanding of the kinetics involved in the phase transformations during heating and cooling.
