  1. 1. Data association algorithms and metric design for trajectory estimation

    Author : Abu Sajana Rahmathullah; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : metrics; smoothing; expectation maximization; Gaussian mixtures; data association; Trajectory estimation;

    Abstract : This thesis is concerned with trajectory estimation, which finds applications in various fields such as automotive safety and air traffic surveillance. More specifically, the thesis focuses on the data association part of the problem, for single and multiple targets, and on performance metrics. READ MORE

  2. 2. Automatic segmentation in CMR - Development and validation of algorithms for left ventricular function, myocardium at risk and myocardial infarction

    Author : Jane Tufvesson; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automatic segmentation; cardiovascular magnetic resonance; validation; Expectation Maximization; freely available software; myocardial infarction;

    Abstract : In this thesis four new algorithms are presented for automatic segmentation in cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR); automatic segmentation of the left ventricle, myocardial infarction, and myocardium at risk in two different image types. All four algorithms were implemented in freely available software for image analysis and were validated against reference delineations with a low bias and high regional agreement. READ MORE

  4. 4. Estimation of Nonlinear Dynamic Systems : Theory and Applications

    Author : Thomas B. Schön; Fredrik Gustafsson; Simon Godsill; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nonlinear estimation; system identification; Kalman filter; particle filter; marginalized particle filter; expectation maximization; automotive applications; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with estimation of states and parameters in nonlinear and non-Gaussian dynamic systems. Sequential Monte Carlo methods are mainly used to this end. These methods rely on models of the underlying system, motivating some developments of the model concept. READ MORE

  5. 5. Probabilistic Models for Species Tree Inference and Orthology Analysis

    Author : Ikram Ullah; Jens Lagergren; Arndt von Haeseler; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phylogenetics; phylogenomics; gene tree; species tree; expectation maximization; mixture model; dynamic programming; markov chain monte carlo; PrIME; JPrIME; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : A phylogenetic tree is used to model gene evolution and species evolution using molecular sequence data. For artifactual and biological reasons, a gene tree may differ from a species tree, a phenomenon known as gene tree-species tree incongruence. Assuming the presence of one or more evolutionary events, e.g. READ MORE
