11. Gene Expression Changes and Brain Plasticity after Experimental Stroke
Abstract : Stroke is the most common life-threatening neurological disease and ranks as the third leading cause of death in major industrialized countries. It is also the leading cause of serious long-term disability and about sixty percent of survivors have disabilities in their extremities. READ MORE

12. Studies of experimental brain trauma and ischemia : effects of Epo
Abstract : Traumatic brain injury has attained a lot of scientific and clinical focus during a considerable amount of time but is still as of today regarded a highly lethal condition with a high degree of morbidity amongst the surviving. The complexity of the pathophysiological processes that start immediately after the primary injury are challenging – disruption of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), imbalance in metabolic supply and demand, neuroinflammation and formation of brain edema are some of the components in a plethora of existing processes. 13. Oxidative stress in experimental traumatic brain injury
Abstract : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death and disability among the young population in the industrialized world. The injury consists of immediate damage to the brain tissue, followed by a secondary response involving inflammation and oxidative stress. READ MORE

14. Transvascular fluid exchange with application to the brain. An experimental study in cat skeletal muscle and brain
Abstract : This study evaluated transcapillary fluid exchange in the cat brain and in a cat skeletal muscle enclosed in a plethysmograph. A method for determination of capillary permeability (capillary filtration coefficient and reflection coefficient) and effects of transcapillary hydrostatic pressure changes were studied We found that capillary fluid permeability in a tissue can be determined by the capillary filtration coefficient, even when arterial pressure and vascular tone are changed. 15. Reanalysis of primate head impact experiments to clarify mild traumatic brain injury kinematics and thresholds
Abstract : Fatalities and severe injuries due to road traffic accidents still represent a serious health and economic issue intoday’s society. Brain injuries are the most common severe injuries and these injuries account for more than half ofthe 1.3 million traffic related deaths annually worldwide. READ MORE
