  2. 2. Oligodendrocyte pathology following Traumatic Brain Injury : Experimental and clinical studies

    Author : Johanna Flygt; Niklas Marklund; Fredrik Piehl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Traumatic brain injury; oligodendrocytes; oligodendrocyte progenitor cells; interleukin 1-β; central fluid percussion injury; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Abstract : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by traffic and fall accidents, sports-related injuries and violence commonly results in life-changing disabilities. Cognitive impairments following TBI may be due to disruption of axons, stretched by the acceleration/deceleration forces of the initial impact, and their surrounding myelin in neuronal networks. 3. 3. Interactions between the environmental pollutant 2,3,7,8- tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin and coxsackievirus infection : Experimental studies in mice

    Author : Eva Funseth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the interactions between 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) and infection. A model of human coxsackievirus type B3 (CB3) infection, adapted to A/J mice, was used.The effects on some immune cell populations and host resistance to CB3 infection were studied immediately after TCDD exposure and 3 months later.
