  1. 1. Thin lubricating films in elastohydrodynamic contacts : experimental techniques and applications

    Author : John Lord; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : The objective of the work reported in this thesis was to increase understanding of thin film lubrication in elastohydrodynamic (EHL) contacts. Increasingly stringent cost demands upon the manufacturing of lubricated machine elements coupled with new environmental requirements have created a need for this knowledge. READ MORE

  2. 2. Simulation and Experimental Methods for Characterization of Nonlinear Mechanical Systems

    Author : Martin Magnevall; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear structural dynamics; simulation; system characterization; experimental techniques; experimental methods;

    Abstract : Trial and error and the use of highly time-consuming methods are often necessary for investigation and characterization of nonlinear systems. However, for the rather common case where a nonlinear system has linear relations between many of its degrees of freedom there are opportunities for more efficient approaches. READ MORE

  3. 3. Techniques of Ecstasy: Rumori - Tracing Sound

    Author : Esaias Järnegard; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Experimental composition; ontology; ontopoetics; phenomenology; embodied knowledge; strategy of sound; ecstatic techniques; Lotta Lotass; Immanuel Kant; Giorgio Agamben; Antonin Artaud; Diamanda Galás; Martin Heidegger; Luigi Nono; Giacinto Scelsi;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis proposes the philosophical concept of ontopoetics in relation to an artistic practice of sound (music) and listening. The concept of ontopoetics is used as the backdrop of the developed notion of techniques of ecstasy essentially as an intermediary between listening and language. READ MORE

  4. 4. Experimental Neuroretinal Transplantation

    Author : Fredrik Ghosh; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transplant; Retinal degeneration; Retina; Rabbit; Neural development; Immunohistochemistry; MHC; Ultrastructure; Vitrectomy; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Abstract : Embryonic full-thickness rabbit neuroretinal sheets were transplanted to the subretinal space of adult hosts. This was accomplished by using a new transplantation technique involving vitrectomy and retinotomy. The grafts were followed from 10 to 306 days after surgery, and were then examined by different histological techniques. READ MORE

  5. 5. Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction Analysis of High-Speed Railway Bridges : Efficient modeling techniques and Experimental testing

    Author : Abbas Zangeneh Kamali; Costin Pacoste; Raid Karoumi; Andreas Andersson; Pedro Galvín; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Railway bridge dynamics; Soil-structure interaction; Resonance; Analytical solution; Non-proportional damping; Complex mode; Field measurements; FE Model updating; Järnvägsbrodynamik; Jord-bro interaktion; Resonans; Analytisk lösning; Icke-proportionell dämpning; Komplex mod; Fältmätningar; FE Modelluppdatering; Structural Engineering and Bridges; Bro- och stålbyggnad;

    Abstract : The work reported in this thesis presents a general overview of the resonant response of high-speed railway bridges considering soil-structure interaction. The study aims to identify the effect of the surrounding and underlying soil on the global stiffness and damping of the structural system. READ MORE
