  1. 26. Hybrid superconductor junctions with diluted PtNi ferromagnetic interlayer

    Author : Taras Golod; Vladimir M. Krasnov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Supraledning; Low temperature physics; Lågtemperaturfysik; materiefysik; Physics Of Matter; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes experimental investigation of thin films made of diluted Pt 1-x Ni x ferromagnet alloy and Nb-Pt 1-x -Nb Josephson junctions. Such Hybrid Superconductor-Ferromagnet (S-F) Structures are of significant interest because of the new physics involved and possible applications in low temperature and spintronic devices. READ MORE

  2. 27. Fault Injection for Studying Error Behavior and Validation of Error Detecting Mechanisms

    Author : Marcus Rimén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; concurrent error detection; functional error model; control flow error; error detection coverage; permanent faults; data error; error detection latency; simulation-based fault injection; transient faults; physical fault injection; dependability evaluation;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the design and validation of low-cost error detecting mechanisms that can be used to implement self-checking computers. The research objectives of the thesis are three-fold: (i) to investigate and develop a simulation-based fault injection technique that can be used on a wide range of VHDL simulation models, (ii) to investigate error propagation mechanisms in microprocessors in order to understand how to design low-cost error detecting mechanisms and (iii) to design and validate error detecting mechanisms. 3. 28. Measures that matter : Facilitating literacy through targeted instruction and assistive technology

    Author : Thomas Nordström; Idor Svensson; Stefan Gustafson; Rickard Carlsson; Dave Edyburn; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Targeted instruction; intervention; assistive technology; reading difficulties; Riktad undervisningsinsats; intervention; assisterande teknik; lässvårigheter; Psychology; Psykologi; Special Education; Specialpedagogik; Education; Pedagogik;

    Abstract : The acquisition of reading skills is one of the most important academic outcomes, as reading enables the individual to acquire knowledge and to actively take part in society. Despite research and educational progress, not all students develop their reading skills to a level that meet academic or societal demands. READ MORE

  4. 29. Dynamics and Applications of Long Josephson Junctions

    Author : Yongming Zhang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The first object of this work is to theoretically study the effects of tunnel junction parameters on flux-flow Josephson oscillators (FFOs) by numerical simulation and to experimentally study the rf properties of FFOs by integrating them together with an SIS (superconductor-insulator-superconductor) mixer/detector on a chip. By using a CAD modeled integrated sub-mm wave receiver, the composite linewidth of two FFOs was measured to be less than 2. READ MORE

  5. 30. Multifunctional Supramolecular Organic Ferroelectrics

    Author : Indre Urbanaviciute; Martijn Kemerink; Mats Fahlman; Bengt-Harald Jonsson; Van Dijken Sebastiaan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Ferroelectric materials are known and valued for their multifunctionality arising from the possibility to perturb the remnant ferroelectric polarization by electric field, temperature and/or mechanical stimuli. While inorganic ferroelectrics dominate the current market, their organic counterparts may provide highly desired properties like eco-friendliness, easy processability and flexibility, concomitantly opening unique opportunities to combine multiple functionalities into a single compound that facilitates unprecedented device concepts and designs.
