6. The Hepatobiliary Transport of Rosuvastatin In Vivo
Abstract : In vivo studies of hepatobiliary disposition are challenging. The hepatobiliary system is complex, as its physiological localization, complex cellular structure with numerous transporters and enzymes, and the interindividual variability in protein expression and biliary flow will all affect the in vivo disposition of a drug under investigation. 7. Investigation and Prediction of Small Intestinal Precipitation of Poorly Soluble Drugs : a Study Involving in silico, in vitro and in vivo Assessment
Abstract : The main objectives of the present project were to increase the understanding of small intestinal precipitation of poorly soluble pharmaceutical drugs, investigate occurrence of crystalline small intestinal precipitation and effects of precipitation on absorption. The aim was to create and evaluate methods of predicting crystalline small intestinal drug precipitation using in vivo, in vitro and in silico models. READ MORE

8. In vivo regulation of pancreatic beta cell function
Abstract : Pancreatic beta cells within the islets of Langerhans contribute to the regulation of glucose homeostasis by secretion of insulin, a hormone that stimulates the uptake of glucose by liver, muscle and fat tissue. In response to variations in insulin demand, the beta cell population can adapt by (1) changing the total beta cell mass, and (2) modulating the functional capacity of individual beta cells. 9. Presence of microemboli during haemodialysis and methods to reduce the exposure to microbubbles
Abstract : Despite chronic dialysis treatment, patients with end stage renal disease undergoing maintenance haemodialysis (HD) remain at a substantially increased risk of morbidity. Previous reports using Doppler ultrasound (DU) during HD have revealed microembolic signals (ME) in the venous circulation. READ MORE

10. In vivo imaging of islet cells and islet revascularization
Abstract : Glucose homeostasis depends on the release of insulin from the pancreatic beta-cell. Impaired insulin release is a hallmark of diabetes mellitus. READ MORE
