  1. 1. Extensions in Flux : An Essay on Vagueness and Context Sensitivity

    Author : Jonas Åkerman; Peter Pagin; Diana Raffman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; vagueness; context sensitivity; contextualism; weak tolerance; sorites paradox; forced march; equivocation; indexicals; Fara; Raffman; Shapiro; Soames; Theoretical philosophy; Teoretisk filosofi; Theoretical Philosophy; teoretisk filosofi;

    Abstract : The extensions of vague predicates like ‘is bald’, ‘is tall’, and ‘is a heap’ apparently lack sharp boundaries, and this makes such predicates susceptible to soritical reasoning, i.e. reasoning that leads to some version of the notorious sorites paradox. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dose Plan Optimization in HDR Brachytherapy using Penalties : Properties and Extensions

    Author : Åsa Holm; Torbjörn Larsson; Åsa Carlsson Tedgren; Göran Sporre; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : High dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy is a specific type of radiotherapy used to treat tumours of for example the cervix, prostate, and breasts. In HDR brachytherapy applicators are implanted into or close to the tumour volume. A radioactive source is moved through these applicators and stops at certain positions, known as dwell points. 3. 3. Extensions of general relativity : scalar tensor theory, topology of space-time and supergravity

    Author : Ulf Lindström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This report together with Papers 1—11 constitute a dissertation on the subjects of Scalar Tensor Theories, Topology of Space-Time and Supergravity. These three areas are briefly introduced for providing a background to the work in 1—11. A general discussion of motivations for modifications of the Einstein theory is also offered. . READ MORE

  4. 4. Extensions of Deontic Logic : An Investigation into some Multi-Modal Systems

    Author : Daniel Rönnedal; Paul Needham; Lennart Åqvist; Allard Tamminga; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Deontic logic; Modal logic; Dyadic deontic logic; Semantic tableau; Conditional obligation; Commitment; Counterfactuals; Multi-modal logic; Bimodal logic; Temporal logic; T x W logic; Ought-implies-can; The means-end principle; Theoretical Philosophy; teoretisk filosofi;

    Abstract : Deontic logic is a branch of logic that deals with normative concepts, propositions, arguments and systems. The main purpose of this compilation thesis is to investigate how deontic logic can be extended in a number of ways. We consider several multimodal systems, i.e. READ MORE

  5. 5. On Hom-associative Ore Extensions

    Author : Per Bäck; Sergei Silvestrov; Johan Richter; Lars Hellström; Anatoliy Malyarenko; Joakim Arnlind; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we introduce and study hom-associative Ore extensions. These are non-unital, non-associative, non-commutative polynomial rings in which the associativity condition is “twisted” by an additive group homomorphism. READ MORE
