    Abstract : A large number of existing bridges in European countries are structurally deficient and functionally obsolete due to the deterioration of aging bridges and the lack of structural and geometric capacity to accommodate the increasing traffic volume and load levels. To meet the demand for holistic and effective strengthening techniques the SUREBRIDGE solution is proposed for the refurbishment of concrete bridges, which includes the technique of using prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate as externally bonded reinforcement for flexural strengthening. 2. 2. Externally unbonded post-tensioned CFRP tendons : a system solution

    Author : Anders Bennitz; Chris Burgoyne; Luleå tekniska universitet; []

    Abstract : The introduction of Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) to the civil engineering market in the late 1980s resulted in the emergence of a range of new tools for rehabilitating and strengthening concrete structures. Strengthening using FRPs is typically accomplished using non-prestressed externally bonded FRPs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Strengthening reinforced concrete structures with FRP composites

    Author : Jincheng Yang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Civil infrastructures made of reinforced concrete (RC) play an important role in the economic activities and services of society. However, signs of deterioration and functional deficiency are commonly found in existing RC structures. Thus, there is a great demand for upgrading the capacity and performance of existing concrete structures. READ MORE

  4. 4. CFRP strengthening of concrete slabs, with and without openings : experiment, analysis, design and field application

    Author : Ola Enochsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Rehabilitation and strengthening of concrete structures with externally bonded FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymers) has been a viable technique for at least a decade. The most common way to strengthen a structure is in flexure where thedesign normally follows traditional concrete design, with exceptions for control of bond and anchorage related to the FRP. 5. 5. Numerical analysis of concrete elements strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymers

    Author : Joakim Lundqvist; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Due to the growing number of ageing reinforced concrete structures such as buildings and bridges, there is an increasing interest in condition assessment and strengthening methods. Deterioration processes and demands for higher loads contribute to this interest. READ MORE
