1. Extinction in Molecular Clouds : Case of Barnard 335
Abstract : The Bok globule B335 is a small molecular cloud in the solar neighbourhood near the galactic plane. The aim for this three-paper-study is to construct and analyze the extinction for this globule. The method we apply is to use the light from field stars behind the cloud in broadband filters ranging from UV to the mid-infrared. READ MORE

2. The Circumstellar Environment of Type Ia Supernovae
Abstract : Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) have proven to be extremely useful for measuring cosmological distances and were used for the discovery of the accelerated expansion of the universe. Although thousands of SNe Ia have been observed to date, many questions surrounding the physics of the explosions and the nature of their progenitor systems remain unanswered. READ MORE

3. Novel Functionalized Nanopores for Plasmonic Sensing
Abstract : Nanoplasmonic sensors offer a label-free platform for real-time monitoring of biomolecular interactions by tracking changes in refractive index through optical spectroscopy. However, other surface sensitive techniques such as conventional surface plasmon resonance offer similar capabilities with equal or even better resolution in terms of surface coverage. READ MORE

4. Long-range intermolecular dispersion forces and circular dichroism spectra from first-principles calculations
Abstract : This work presents first-principles calculations of long-range intermolecular dispersion energies between two atoms or molecules and of electronic circular dichroism spectra of chiral molecules. The former is expressed in terms of the C6 dipole-dipole dispersion coefficients Δε, and the latter is given in terms of the extinction coefficient. READ MORE

5. Properties of Type Ia Supernovae : From the (intermediate) Palomar Transient Factory
Abstract : Type Ia Supernovae (SNe) have been used to discover the accelerated expansion of the universe but many open questions remain unanswered. These include the stellar progenitor, extinction and possible systematic trends in the supernova brightness for different host galaxy environments or cosmic time. READ MORE
