  1. 1. Complex Formation in the Extra Cellular Matrix- Structural Study of CTLD of Agrrecan, Tenascin-R and Chondroadherin

    Author : Anna Pramhed; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aggrecan; ECM; fibulin; structure; tenascin; CHAD; chondroadherin; X-ray; crystallography; calcium; CTLD; C-type lectin; fibronectin; FnIII; LRR; epidermal growth factor; leucine-rich repeat; matrix; EGF; cbEGF;

    Abstract : The cells of higher organisms exist in a complex protein network, the extracellular matrix (ECM), which has a wide variety of different components such as glycoproteins, proteoglycans and carbohydrates. As well as being the physical scaffold on which the cells are dependent for their positioning and mobility, the ECM exercises control over the cells, and changes in the matrix will affect the adhesion, proliferation and differentiation properties of these cells. 2. 2. Axon Guidance and Morphogenesis of the C. elegans Pharynx

    Author : Manish Rauthan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharynx; M2; C. elegans; extra-cellular matrix ECM ; hex; Krüppel; pha-2; isthmus; NSM; pharyngeal neurons.; cytoskeleton; mnm-2;

    Abstract : The C. elegans pharynx is a single cell thick muscular tube that undergoes morphogenesis to attain it mature structure from a ball of 80 undifferentiated cells. This thesis is about understanding the mechanisms and the genetic pathways underlying the process of pharyngeogenesis. READ MORE

  3. 3. Collagen of the extracellular matrix. Functional and structural studies

    Author : Olof Olsson; Avdelningen för translationell cancerforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Collagen; Extra Cellular Matrix. TGF-beta; integrin αvβ6;

    Abstract : The cancer microenvironment has been attracting increasing attention as the realization of its importance for both disease treatment and malignant progression. Here the aim was to elucidate some of the effects and mechanisms of the tumor microenvironment related to the extracellular matrix (ECM). READ MORE

  4. 4. FoxF genes in development and disease

    Author : Seyed Ali Moussavi Nik; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FOXF1; Sfrp1; LGR5 stem cells; Tgfb; Wnt signaling; ECM; Intact intestinal epithelium; Foxf2; ACDMPV;

    Abstract : Forkhead transcription factors of the FoxF group are important during embryonic de-velopment, and mutation of either of the members, Foxf1 and Foxf2, has fatal conse-quences. In this thesis, I present our recent findings about the mechanism of action of FoxF genes in development and disease. READ MORE

  5. 5. Extracellular Matrix and Connective Tissue Cells of the Tumor Microenvironment

    Author : Tomas Friman; Christian Sundberg; Kristofer Rubin; Ulf Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi; Tumour biology; Tumörbiologi; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Abstract : In addition to malignant cells, solid tumors comprise supporting stromal tissue that consists of extra cellular matrix (ECM), connective tissue cells, inflammatory cells and blood vessels. The stromal compartment and the malignant cells together shape the tumor microenvironment that in turn determines tumor progression and efficacy of anti-tumor treatments. READ MORE
