6. Analysis of PAHs and their transformations products in contaminated soil and remedial processes
Abstract : Soil that is heavily contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is often found at the sites of former gasworks and wood-impregnation plants. Since PAHs are toxic these sites represent a hazard to human health and the environment, and therefore they need to be treated, preferably by a method that destroys the contaminants, and thus eliminates the problem permanently. 7. Analytical Supercritical Fluid Extraction of Lipid Containing Samples
Abstract : Traditionally, sample work-up has been associated with different kinds of liquid extraction techniques involving a large consumption of hazardous solvents. There are today regulations that aims at replacement of dangerous chemicals which has created a need for new extraction techniques. READ MORE

8. Keratinocytes and Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells : The heir and the spare to regenerative cellular therapies for difficult-to-heal skin wounds
Abstract : Cell-based therapy is considered as Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product, (ATMP), which had increasingly stricter regulations in the last decade. The cells must be produced according to the ‘Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) specific to Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products’, adopted by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). 9. Identification and characterization of nuclear envelope protein interactions
Abstract : The Nuclear envelope which surrounds the chromatin of eukaryotic cells contains more than a hundred transmembrane proteins. Mutations in some genes encoding nuclear envelope proteins give rise to human diseases including neurological disorders. The function of many nuclear envelope proteins is not well established. 10. Validation of antibodies for protein profiling : A study using immunohistochemistry on tissue microarrays
Abstract : The field of proteomics has rapidly expanded due to the completion of the human genome sequence. This thesis validates affinity-purified monospecific antibodies of polyclonal origin, for protein profiling in a broad spectrum of normal tissues and cells. READ MORE
