1. Reaction dynamics on highly excited states
Abstract : In this thesis I have performed theoretical studies on the reaction dynamics in few-atom molecules. In particular, I have looked at reaction processes in which highly excited resonant states are involved. READ MORE

2. The Oxygen Evolving cycle in Photosystem II studied with EPR Spectroscopy at different pH and Temperature
Abstract : PSII catalyses the light-induced water splitting process which leads to electron transfer through the thylakoid membrane and formation of energy rich molecules. Several redox components including a Mn4Ca, an amino acid residueYZ, two special Chl molecules P680, two Pheo and two quinone molecules participate in this process. READ MORE

3. Protonmotive coupling of energy conversion processes in photosyntetic bacteria : studies on membrane energization and photophosphorylation capacity
Abstract : This work is a study on the membrane-bound inorganic pyrophosphatase and other energylinkedenzymes in the chromatophores from the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodospirillum rubrum. The membrane-bound inorganic pyrophosphatase is functionally similar to the well-known FiF0-ATP synthase. 4. Elucidating the molecular basis of Na+/H+ exchange
Abstract : Solute carrier (SLC) transporters are membrane transport proteins, which catalyse the movement of nutrients, ions, and drugs across cell membranes. Here, I will present our contribution to understanding the mechanism of the sodium/proton exchangers (NHE), belonging to the SLC9 family of membrane transporters. READ MORE

5. Pathophysiology of subarachnoid hemorrhage in the rat
Abstract : Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) causes brain damage, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. An obstacle in SAH research is the lack of an adequate animal model. In this thesis, we developed a new approach to simulate SAH that involves the injection of blood into the prechiasmatic cistern of the rat. READ MORE
