  1. 1. Hyperbaric oxygen. Effects on ischemia-reperfusion

    Author : Johan Tjärnström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : fibrinolysis; f-MLP; human; hyperbaric oxygen; neutrophils; normobaric; PAI-1; PMA; rat; t-PA; trauma; uPA;

    Abstract : Treatment with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) is controversial when treating other disorders than decompression sickness. However, HBO2 is a treatment modality that has gained recognition in certain ischemia-reperfusion situations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Models for chemotactic migration of a single neutrophil in spatio-temporal gradients of f-MLP : evidence of a temporal mechanism for gradient detection

    Author : Jonas Tekle; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  3. 3. Granulocyte Adhesion to Matrix Proteins and the Effect on the Release of Granule Proteins : Development of a Simple Method and its Application in Experimental and Clinical Studies

    Author : Xiaoyan Xu; Joachim Lundahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; Eosinophils; Neutrophils; Adhesion; Release of ECP; Extracellular matrix proteins; Granulocytes; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Granulocyte adhesion and release of their granule proteins are key steps during selective accumulation of a certain cell to an inflammatory site. Eosinophils are specifically recruited to sites of allergic inflammation and parasitic infection, whereas neutrophil influx predominates in bacterial infection and rheumatoid arthritis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Neutrophil chemotaxis. Analyses of neutrophil chemotaxis i a new fluid gradient chamber

    Author : Reza Ebrahimzadeh Pirshahid; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell movement; Chemotaxis; Leukocyte; Neutrophil; Human; Filter; Methods; N-Formylmethionine-Leucyl-Phenylalanine; Normal distribution; Partial differential equation;

    Abstract : The leukocytes have, as part of their function in immune system, the ability to leave the bloodstream, penetrate the vascular wall and migrate towards extravascular targets. This behaviour of the leukocytes has been extensively studied both in vivo and in vitro since the 19th century but the mechanisms underlying leukocyte migration are not yet fully understood. 5. 5. Redox effects on neutrophils in wound healing conducted by wound dressings and hyperbaric oxygen

    Author : Herman Sahlin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : neutrophil granulocyte; wound healing; wound dressing; reactive oxygen species; NO; hyperbaric oxygen; bacterial killing;

    Abstract : The increased influx of neutrophils into chronic wounds results in increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO) and lipid peroxidation products (LPP), as well as a ROS-induced increase in protease levels. The NO and LPP impair the respiratory burst response of the neutrophils and reduce their capacity to kill bacteria and digest debris. READ MORE
