  1. 1. Rapid Facial Reactions to Emotionally Relevant Stimuli

    Author : Monika Thunberg; Ulf Dimberg; Mats Fredrikson; Georg Stenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Emotion; facial EMG; facial reactions; facial expressions; rapid responses; automatic responses; phobia; social fear; speech anxiety; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : The present thesis investigated the relationship between rapid facial muscle reactions and emotionally relevant stimuli. In Study I, it was demonstrated that angry faces elicit increased Corrugator supercilii activity, whereas happy faces elicit increased Zygomaticus major activity, as early as within the first second after stimulus onset. 2. 2. Emotional Empathy, Facial Reactions, and Facial Feedback

    Author : Per Andréasson; Ulf Dimberg; Gunilla Bohlin; Örjan Sundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Emotional empathy; facial feedback; facial expression; emotion; empathy; mirror neurons; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : The human face has a fascinating capability to express emotions. The facial feedback hypothesis suggests that the human face not only expresses emotions but is also able to send feedback to the brain and modulate the ongoing emotional experience. READ MORE

  3. 3. New Reactions with Allyl- and Allenylboron Reagents : Transition-Metal-Catalyzed and Transition-Metal-Free Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation Processes

    Author : Dong Wang; Kálmán J. Szabó; Jianbo Wang; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon-carbon bond formation; cross-coupling; organoboron compound; allylboron reagent; allylation; transition metal; metal carbene; allenylboron reagent; transition metal free; diazo compound; tosylhydrazone; quinone; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Organoboron compounds have been widely used in carbon-carbon bond formation reactions in organic synthesis and catalysis. This thesis is focused on cross-coupling reactions of allyl-, allenylboronic acids and their ester derivatives via transition metal catalysis or transition-metal-free processes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Between Ourselves : Automatic mimicry reactions as related to empathic ability and patterns of attachment

    Author : Marianne Sonnby-Borgström; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; emotion regulation; attachment pattern; empathy; EMG; Key words:Facial mimicry; emotional contagion; Differential and individual psychology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; Differentiell och individuell psykologi;

    Abstract : This thesis investigated emotional communication in experimentally created face-to-face interaction situations. The hypotheses were based on the conception of a process which leads to emotional empathy, assuming that automatic mimicking tendencies are involved in an automatic part of the process. READ MORE

    Abstract : The spotted fever rickettsia, Rickettsia helvetica, is an endemic tick-borne bacteria in Sweden. It causes infections in humans, manifested as aneruptive fever, headache, arthralgia and myalgia, and sometimes an inoculation eschar or a rash. There have also been two known cases of human infections with R. felis in Sweden. READ MORE
