  1. 16. Analysis of transverse composite cross-ply laminates

    Author : Janis Varna; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : Advanced polymer composites are commonly based on thin prepreg plies stacked at different angles to form a laminate. When the laminate is loaded, intralaminar transverse cracking in off-axis plies is one of the first damage modes. In the presented thesis, cross-ply laminates are used to study the transverse cracking phenomenon. READ MORE

  2. 17. Probabilistic high cycle fatigue models - volumetric approaches

    Author : Salar Sadek; Mårten Olsson; Anders Ekberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Fatigue is the most frequent failure mode and must be considered in a mechanical designof actual operating components. The fact that mechanical design is most often linkedwith existence of stress raisers and multiaxial time-varying stresses has in the last decadesincreased the research effort worldwide. READ MORE

  3. 18. In-plane mechanical properties of acetylated birch plywood and its response to humidity elevation

    Author : Yue Wang; Magnus Wålinder; Roberto Crocetti; Marie Johansson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Birch plywood; wood modification; acetylation; in-plane mechanical properties; load-to-face grain angle; moisture effect; Björkplywood; trämodifiering; acetylering; mekaniska egenskaper i planet; belastningsriktning; klimategenskaper; Building Materials; Byggnadsmaterial;

    Abstract : Due to the recent flourish of modern timber structures, there is an increasing demand for engineered wood products (EWPs). However, outdoor exposure of EWPs often poses a risk of durability-related issues. READ MORE

  4. 19. A Linearized Navier-Stokes Equations Methodology for Aeroacoustic and Thermoacoustic Simulations

    Author : Wei Na; Susann Boij; Gunilla Efraimsson; Niklas Andersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Linearized Navier-Stokes Equations LNSE ; frequency domain; tube row heat exchanger; hybrid liner; thermoacoustic instabilities; entropy waves; Rijke-tube; nozzle; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Aeroengine noise is one of the dominating noise sources in today’s aircraft. Reduction of the aeroengine noise is related to multiphysics phenomena, and that is subject to different mechanisms, e.g., the coupling between turbulence, flame and sound waves. READ MORE

  5. 20. Durability and Long-term Performance of Adhesively Bonded FRP/steel Joints

    Author : Mohsen Heshmati; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; FRP steel joints; durability; fibre reinforced polymer; cohesive zone modelling; long-term performance; adhesively bonded joints; moisture diffusion;

    Abstract : Fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites offer excellent properties, such as high specific strength and stiffness, corrosion resistance and light weight. Over the past four decades, FRPs have been increasingly used for strengthening and repair of bridge structures, and more recently, in the manufacture of whole/hybrid FRP bridges. READ MORE
