  1. 1. Facing failures : interactions between drivers and advanced driver assistance systems

    Author : Niklas Strand; Håkan Alm; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Adaptive cruise control; Driver assistance system; Driver; Behaviour; Thesis; Adaptiva farthållare; Förarstödssystem; Förare; Beteende; Doktorsavhandling; 841 Road: Road user behaviour; 841 Road: Road user behaviour; 914 Road: ITS och vehicle technology; 914 Road: ITS och vehicle technology; 911 Road: Components of the vehicle; 911 Road: Components of the vehicle;

    Abstract : Drivers’ interactions with advanced driver assistance systems based on experiences from real driving and results from driving in a driving simulator were under investigation in this thesis. Questions posed were: - How do drivers perceive and interact with ADAS? - How are (technical) failures handled by drivers, and which are the consequences’ of these failures? - Which are the implications for diagnosis and detection of failures, as well as for system development? Special attention was given to driver behavior in response to technical failures in an adaptive cruise control system. READ MORE

  2. 2. Criticality of fast failures in the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider

    Author : Björn Lindström; Roger Ruber; Daniel Wollmann; Maja Olvegård; Annika Nordt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; machine protection; failures; beam losses; accelerator physics;

    Abstract : Each of the two Large Hadron Collider (LHC) beams contain 362 MJ of energy. This will be further increased to 678 MJ in the upcoming upgrade to the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). In the event of an uncontrolled beam loss, a significant hazard occurs, that can damage the machine components. READ MORE

  3. 3. Models for Estimation of Software Faults and Failures in Inspection and Test

    Author : Per Runeson; Institutioner vid LTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; failures; usage based testing; usage model; statistical testing; faults; capture-recapture; inspections; software quality; software reliability; experiments; Computer science; numerical analysis; systems; control; Datalogi; numerisk analys; system; kontroll;

    Abstract : In software engineering, the quality of software and in particular the software reliability has to be controlled and improved. Hence there is a need for measuring and controlling the number and appearance of software faults and failures. READ MORE

  4. 4. Externalities and Coordination Failures

    Author : Sebastian Tebbe; Jonathan de Quidt; Robert Östling; Torsten Persson; Ulrich Wagner; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : Peer Effects in Electric Car Adoption: Evidence from SwedenI study peer effects in the diffusion of electric cars in Sweden. To identify peer effects, I use a shift-share IV design that links the renewal of elapsing individual-level, car leasing contracts (i.e., shift) with the propensity to acquire an electric car based on individual traits (i. 5. 5. Characteristics of screen-failures in prostate cancer screening

    Author : Anna Grenabo Bergdahl; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; screening; prostate cancer; screening failures; antigen; age; interval cancer; multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging; non-attendees; prostate cancer screening;

    Abstract : ABSTRACT Although prostate-specific antigen (PSA)-based screening has been shown to reduce prostate cancer (PC)-specific mortality with large variations in mortality reduction with different screening algorithms, the optimal screening strategy has not yet been established. This thesis aims at exploring aspects of underdiagnosis in PC screening, focusing on the impact of screening failures on screening effectiveness. READ MORE
