    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to explore women's reactions to and experiences of fetal screening for Down's syndrome PS) by means of an ultrasound examination, including measurement of fetal nuchal translucency (NT). The effect of this screening on maternal worry about the baby's health was investigated, as well as reactions to a false positive test and interpretation of information about riskAlso, an instrument measuring worry during pregnancy, the Cambridge Worry Scale, was translated into Swedish and tested on a sample of pregnant women. 2. 2. Integrated Pedestrian Safety Assessment: A Method to Evaluate Combinations of Active and Passive Safety

    Author : Nils Lübbe; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AEB; assessment; pedestrian; comfort boundary; driver behaviour; False Positive; integrated safety; airbag; FCW; reaction time;

    Abstract : Pedestrian road casualties are a major concern in many countries. Vehicle safety systems attempt to reduce casualties, and the accurate assessment of such systems is therefore essential. Passive safety assessment is well established, and additional active safety assessment has recently emerged. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ethyl glucuronide : a new biochemical marker for acute alcohol intake : studies on possible causes for false-negative or false-positive results

    Author : Helen Dahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In recent years, there has been a growing interest in various biochemical markers for detecting acute and chronic alcohol consumption. Biochemical markers for acute and chronic drinking play important roles in detecting alcohol use, abuse and dependence in hospital settings, work place settings, traffic medicine and in forensic toxicology examinations. 4. 4. Improved computerized perimetric threshold strategies

    Author : Boel Bengtsson; Oftalmologi (Malmö); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; probability maps; normal limits; test time; clinical testing; test strategies. glaucoma; test algorithms; false positive answers; Visual field testing; computerized perimetry; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Abstract : Perimetric threshold examination is the most important method for diagnosing and monitoring patients with glaucoma. Such examination, however, is time-consuming and often difficult for the elderly patients in whom glaucoma is prevalent. Shorter test strategies have been proposed, but unfortunately also with lower test quality. READ MORE

  5. 5. Track circuits’ robustness : Modeling, measurement and simulation

    Author : Emilio Rodriguez; Ajit Kumar Verma; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Track circuit; Relay; False positive signals; Signalling in railway; Modelling; Simulation; Testing; Robustness; Interoperability; Reliability; Railway Infrastructure; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance Engineering;

    Abstract : In countries with rough weather conditions, frequent delays cause railway companies to waste time and money. Many of these delays are related to the train detection systems, as the old DC track circuits are still used in some countries, including Sweden, our case study. READ MORE
