  1. 1. Common mechanism for teratogenicity of antiepileptic drugs : Drug-induced embryonic arrhythmia and hypoxia-reoxygenation damage

    Author : Faranak Azarbayjani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Atiepileptik drugs; embryonic heart; arrhythmia; cleft palate; ROS; antioxidants; Ikr; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Toxicology; toxikologi;

    Abstract : The Antiepilptic drugs (AEDs) phenytoin (PHT), carbamazepine (CBZ), phenobarbital (PB), tri- and dimethadione (TMD and DMD) are known teratogens having a common malformation pattern in human and animal studies. This thesis was designed chiefly to test a hypothesis correlating the teratogenicity of these AEDs to episodes of pharmacologically induced embryonic arrhythmia and hypoxia-reoxygenation damage. 2. 2. Molecular-level Simulations of Cellulose Dissolution by Steam and SC-CO2 Explosion

    Author : Faranak Bazooyar; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular modelling; cellulose; steam explosion; SC-CO2 explosion; Resource Recovery; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Dissolution of cellulose is an important but complicated step in biofuel production from lignocellulosic materials. Steam and supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) explosion are two effective methods for dissolution of some lignocellulosic materials. Loading and explosion are the major processes of these methods. 3. 3. Reducing uncertainties in climate change impact studies through uni- and multivariate methods : A Nordic perspective

    Author : Faranak Tootoonchi; Claudia Teutschbein; Jan O. Haerter; Olle Räty; Thomas Grabs; Alex J. Cannon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; precipitation and temperature; bias adjustment; bias correction; univariate and multivariate methods; hydrologic signatures; drought; Sweden; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis;

    Abstract : Climate change poses undeniable impacts on hydroclimatic processes due to simultaneous effects of rising temperature and changing precipitation patterns. To quantify these impacts, simulations of climate variables are typically retrieved from climate models, which are then downscaled and bias-adjusted for a particular study site. READ MORE

  4. 4. Novel Treatment Modalities for High-Risk Neuroblastoma : Studies in Animal Models

    Author : Dieter Fuchs; Faranak Azarbayjani; Rolf Christofferson; Sven Påhlman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; neuroblastoma; bevacizumab; SU11248; GMX1778; GMX1777; animal model; Medicine; Medicin;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma, the most common extracranial solid tumor of childhood, is a heterogeneous tumor. In some patients, the tumor can go into spontaneous regression and disappear whereas other patients have rapidly growing tumors with a poor prognosis. READ MORE
