  1. 1. Effect of Wood Constituents Oxidation of Unsaturated Fatty Acids

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Alireza Salehi Movahed; KTH.; [2011]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wood constituents; oil; oxidation; unstatured fatty acids; lignin; model lignin compounds; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Organic chemistry Polymer chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Organisk kemi Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : This work presents the mechanisms of free radicals in a model system between fatty acids oxidation process and wood components. The aim is to create a better understanding of new environmentally friendly materials for exterior wood protection. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structural Studies of a Xyloglucan Endotransglycosylase from Populus tremula x tremuloides and Three Conserved Hypothetical Proteins from Mycobacterium tuberculosis

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Patrik Johansson; Uppsala universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : Cell and molecular biology; xyloglucan endotransglycosylase; Mycobacterium tuberculosis; epoxide hydrolase; fatty acid metabolism; fatty acid oxidation; crystallography; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the structural studies of four different proteins from two organisms. Xyloglucan endotransglycosylases, XETs, are involved in plant cell wall expansion and remodeling by splitting and reconnecting xyloglucan-cellulose crosslinks. The first crystal structure of a XET enzyme has been determined to 1.8 Å. READ MORE

    Abstract : Prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is still rising and even so in the juvenile population. Obesity is highly associated with increased risk for developing T2DM. READ MORE

  4. 4. Food ingredients from cultivated seaweeds-Improving storage stability and protein recovery

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Hanna Harrysson; [2019]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; alterative cultivation; pH-shift; proteins; lipid oxidation; protein extraction; unsaturated fatty acids; ascorbic acid; long-term storage; sequential recovery; Seaweed; macroalgae;

    Abstract : There is a global demand for new vegetarian protein sources, and seaweed have for multiple reasons been identified as a promising candidate. The overall aim of this thesis was to evaluate the potential of three different Swedish seaweed species as food protein sources, but also as sources of unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and minerals.
